Primary Purpose

 

The Technical Writer is responsible for developing clear, structured, and reusable documentation for Emmes software products. The role focuses on creating user guides, release notes, and online help using structured authoring principles to ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability. The Technical Writer collaborates with product managers, developers, QA engineers, and UX designers to gather information and convert complex technical workflows into concise, user‑centered documentation.

 

  • Create and maintain product documentation, including user guides, release notes, and online help, using structured authoring principles.
  • Collaborate with product teams (Product, Dev, QA, UX) to gather information and stay aligned with feature updates and Agile ceremonies.
  • Ensure documentation quality by following the Microsoft Manual of Style and internal standards.
  • Update and organize content when features change and maintain documentation repositories.
  • Improve user experience by structuring content for different user roles and adding visuals where appropriate.

 

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in software environments.
  • Experience creating structured documentation for software applications.
  • Familiarity with modular, reusable, topic‑based writing.
  • Proficiency with Confluence, Microsoft Word, and similar documentation tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools such as JIRA.
  • Strong ability to understand technical concepts and translate them for end users.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, user‑centered documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Strong organizational and research skills.
