Technical Writer 1

Responsibilities:

• Create and edit technical procedures and manuals for internal and external customer reference.
• Collaborate with engineers and core writing staff to finalize procedures using Microsoft Word, ensuring content accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
• Develop product manuals within a Content Management System (CMS).
• Collect data/drafts from engineering sources, edit for accuracy, and incorporate into procedures.
• Complete CMS integration tasks per aligned deadlines for both internal and external publications.
• Perform CMS DITA/XML editing, conversion, translation, and incorporate media to create structured publications.
• Attend and contribute to content team meetings, providing status updates and planning for future deliverables.
• Exhibit strong teamwork, organization, and attention to detail.

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency with documentation and authoring tools, XML editors.
• Experience with version control systems like Git or similar.
• Familiarity with markup languages: HTML, XML, Markdown.
• Knowledge of DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) for structured content authoring and management.
• Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and single-source publishing.
• Basic understanding of UI/UX principles.
• Strong communication, presentation, and MS Office skills.
• Attention to detail and high-quality standards in engineering documentation.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with DITA XML, CMS, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe FrameMaker, WebWorks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or English Communication, with 23 years of experience in technical writing, focusing on DITA/XML.
