Job Description

Job opening for Technical Superintendents with Geared bulk carrier & Gas carrier experience

Education Qualification: B.E. (Marine Engineering or equivalent)

Relevant Experience: 10-12 years of sailing experience in the shipping industry with minimum 2 years sailing experience as Chief Engineer on Bulk carrier ships with 4 to 6 years of Shore experience. Adequate sailing experience on Gas carrier vessels, will be preferred.

Job Description:

  • Track all the reports from vessel, analyze performance/defects and correspond with vessel to address the same.
  • Monitor day to day fuel consumption and speed of the vessel. Review and advise vessel as the case may be. Co-ordinate with operations team and vessel in case of any deviation.
  • Carry out regular inspection of allocated vessels, to assess condition of vessel and competence of Officers & crew, at work Prepare report, as per company Vessel Technical Inspection guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the vessel to close out any deficiencies raised in any internal inspection to have the vessel ready for any third-party inspection.
  • Identify requirement of any major repairs and plan time/workshop or riding squad/spares, co-ordinate with relevant teams for the same.
  • Plan schedule and co-ordinate with classification societies to carry out surveys.
  • Planning and managing under the retrofits, maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, conversions or modifications.
  • Formulating long term maintenance plans and tracking maintenance in accordance with makers maintenance schedules and the PMS.
  • Suggesting improvement/changes to procedures & HSQE manuals where required.
  • Monitoring and managing vessel operating costs within agreed budgets.
  • Monitoring vessel performance trends including speed, fuel and lubricating oil consumptions, and implementing timely remedial actions where required.
  • Ensuring implementation of safety and environmental standards on board the vessel.
  • Monitoring and guiding the vessel purchaser and the technical assistant on procurement matters and technical services.
  • To provide support to crewing department in selection of engineer officers.
  • Carrying out senior Officer Performance Appraisals, mentoring of staff, and carrying out briefings.
  • Controlling and executing all activities pertaining to classification bodies, flag states, and surveys & certification of the vessels under direct charge.
