About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Solutions Specialist – Hardware Design & IoT to lead the design, development, validation, and deployment of next-generation electronic hardware for IoT applications.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring expertise in PCB design, embedded hardware, electronics product development, sensor integration, hardware validation, and product certifications. You will work closely with Firmware, Software, Mechanical, QA, Manufacturing, Product, and Operations teams to deliver reliable and scalable hardware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Design & Product Development
- Design and develop electronic hardware for IoT and embedded systems.
- Create multi-layer PCB designs using Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle CAD.
- Develop schematics, perform component selection, power budgeting, and circuit optimisation.
- Design sensor interface circuits for environmental monitoring applications.
- Support prototype development through production and field deployment.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on enclosure integration and product packaging.
Embedded Systems & Hardware Integration
- Integrate sensors, microcontrollers, communication modules, and embedded peripherals.
- Define hardware interfaces with Firmware and Software teams.
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and system integration activities.
- Work with communication protocols including UART, SPI, I²C, RS-485, Ethernet, Modbus, LoRaWAN, and MQTT.
Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
- Develop hardware validation plans and test procedures.
- Perform functional, environmental, thermal, vibration, and reliability testing.
- Analyse failures using root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Design test fixtures, validation tools, and rapid prototypes.
Certification & Compliance
- Support product certifications including CE, FCC, BIS, UL, CSA, and IEC.
- Prepare technical documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with external testing laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with quality and industry standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Management, Firmware, Software, QA, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
- Provide technical feasibility assessments for customer requirements.
- Support customer-specific hardware customisation and integration.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering discussions throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Electronics Hardware Design, Embedded Systems, IoT Hardware, or Product Development.
- Strong expertise in PCB design using Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with DFM/DFT considerations.
- Good understanding of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Experience integrating environmental or industrial sensors.
- Knowledge of Embedded C/C++ and hardware–firmware interaction.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, and debugging tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
