Role Description

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Technical Sales / Business Development Executive to drive business growth in the Industrial Automation and Engineering Solutions domain.

Industrial Automation Electrical & Lighting Solutions

Instrumentation Electronics

Packaging Machinery Capital Equipment

Industrial Spares & Components Hydraulics / Servo Systems

Industrial Valves, Pneumatic Systems Electromechanical Products

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, excellent client engagement skills, and a proven track record in B2B/project sales within automation, electrical, instrumentation, or industrial engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Lead Generation

Identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, emails, LinkedIn outreach, networking, referrals, and field visits.

Generate qualified leads and schedule meetings with prospective clients.

Contact key decision-makers and evaluate potential business opportunities.

Actively seek new sales opportunities through market research, networking, exhibitions, conferences, and industry events.

Client Engagement & Sales

Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, System Integrators, Consultants, and End Users.

Understand client requirements and recommend customized automation and engineering solutions.

Conduct customer meetings, technical presentations, product detailing's, demonstrations, and site visits.

Follow up on inquiries, quotations, proposals, and order status to ensure successful conversion.

Identify project opportunities related to PLC, SCADA, DCS, Drives, Instrumentation, and Industrial Automation solutions.

Gather technical specifications and project requirements from customers. for both new supplies and repairs or retrofit jobs or modifications or maintenance activities.

Prepare and submit techno-commercial proposals, quotations, and tender responses.

Coordinate with plant heads, maintenance, commissioning, engineering, procurement, and operations teams for offer preparation and project execution.

Negotiate commercial terms and successfully close orders within assigned targets.

Sales Operations & Reporting

Maintain accurate sales records, CRM updates, customer databases, and pipeline reports.

Create regular sales forecasts, business reviews, and performance reports.

Ensure availability of products/materials for customer demonstrations and project discussions.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and customer satisfaction.

Familiarity with CRM tools, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and basic ERP tools or software.

Target Achievement

Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

Contribute to marketing initiatives, promotional campaigns, and business expansion strategies.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong technical understanding of Industrial Electrical-Hydraulic-Instrumentation-Automation Systems.

Experience in B2B and project-based sales environments.

Ability to understand customer requirements and provide tailored technical solutions.

Strong prospecting, lead qualification, pipeline management, and closing skills.

Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.

Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.

Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates with experience and exposure in any of the following industries will have a strong advantage:

Chemical/Process Pharmaceutical

Dairy, Food & BeverageOil & Gas, Aviation/Aerospace

Water & Wastewater Steel, Cement, Power

Metro & Infrastructure ProjectsMining, EPC Projects

Manufacturing /Automotive Contractors / SME's

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Degree within related field (or equivalent practical experience)

3–5 years of experience in Technical Sales, Business Development, Industrial Automation, Engineering Services, Capital Equipment, Instrumentation, Electrical Components, or related industrial sectors.

Ability to work on sites in AP & TS with extensive travelling to customer sites client locations and collaborate effectively with teams on achieving targets.

Proven experience in sales and skills in New Business Development and Lead Generation, with the ability to build and maintain a strong sales pipeline in key customer segments.

Strong Business and Account Management capabilities, including client relationship management, opportunity tracking, and post-sales support.

Effective Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, presentation skills, and the ability to explain technical solutions to clients - professionally engaging methods.

Strong interpretation, technical know-how, Negotiations, Analytical, and Problem-solving abilities.
