TECHNICAL PROGRAM MANAGER — DATA TRANSFORMATION
LOCATION: Remote (Kerala, India preferred) | TIMING: Overlap with LA Business Hours (up to 1:00 AM IST) INDUSTRY: Financial Services/ Private Equity / Real Assets | TYPE: Full-Time
Role Overview
We are hiring a Technical Program Manager (Techno-Functional) to help drive a multi-year data modernization program across investor/performance reporting, self-serve analytics, GenAI-enabled automation, and compliance/assurance workflows. This role will align cross-functional teams (business, data engineering, BI, and partner teams) to deliver against program objectives, while maintaining high standards for quality, traceability, and stakeholder communication.
This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO, requiring strong delivery leadership, high energy, and the ability to translate complex technology work into clear business outcomes.
What Success Looks Like
- Rapid ramp-up: Quickly gets to speed on program objectives, scope, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations; operates with minimal onboarding time.
- End-to-end delivery visibility: Has ears and eyes across the full delivery lifecycle—design, development, testing, and deployment—and proactively surfaces risks, dependencies, and decisions.
- Value-oriented storytelling: Connects day-to-day execution to outcomes and communicates a clear, value-based delivery narrative to executives and stakeholders (progress, impact, and trade-offs).
- Team enablement & mentorship: Coaches the team through technical/functional impediments, improves delivery discipline, and drives continuous upskilling.
- Operational rigor: Meticulously manages plans, milestones, RAID, and change control to keep workstreams on track; resolves conflicts and unblocks delivery quickly.
- Scale with leadership: Partners with onshore leadership to expand scope thoughtfully, ensure onboarding readiness, and strengthen resourcing and capability as the program grows.
Key Responsibilities
1) Program Leadership & Delivery Execution
- Own end-to-end delivery planning across multiple concurrent initiatives (phase gates, milestones, dependencies, critical path)
- Drive execution rigor: backlog shaping, sprint/release planning, RAID logs, decision logs, and change control
- Anticipate delivery risks early and manage tradeoffs to maintain timelines and outcomes
2) Techno-Functional Ownership (Bridge Business + Technology)
- Translate business goals into data products, functional requirements, and implementation plans
- Partner with architects/engineers to shape target-state designs, including:
- process flows
- architecture diagrams
- data lineage/traceability
- operating model and handoffs
- Ensure delivered solutions are usable, scalable, and aligned to enterprise standards
3) Governance, Quality, and Traceability
- Define and enforce delivery standards: documentation templates, test plans, evidence requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Ensure end-to-end traceability (metric → definition → source → model → validation → report/app)
- Own validation workflows: reconciliation, discrepancy tracking, sign-offs, and release readiness
4) Stakeholder Engagement, Storytelling, and Adoption
- Lead stakeholder communications: executive status, value realization updates, and decision support
- Plan and run periodic offsites / stakeholder syncs to:
- bring stakeholders up to speed
- showcase team achievements (show and tells)
- tell a cohesive story of value creation and efficiency (including how AI is accelerating delivery)
- Drive adoption by ensuring outputs are intuitive, documented, and supported with enablement
5) Operational Management (Budget, Resourcing, Onboarding)
- Support program budgeting, vendor/partner coordination, and resource planning
- Lead onboarding for new team members (process, tools, ways of working)
- Build team capability through mentoring, skill development, and continuous improvement
6) Portfolio Focus Areas (aligned to current program themes)
- Data Modernization & Migration: certification, parity validation, reconciliation, cutover planning
- Self-Serve Analytics: metric mapping, semantic scoping, Silver/Gold modeling alignment, BI enablement (e.g., Domo/Tableau)
- GenAI Enablement: managing AI workflows for extraction, normalization, exception handling, and auditability
- Compliance / Assurance Enablement: enabling governed interfaces and traceable data flows for regulatory/investor needs
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 4–6+ years in technical program/project management delivering data modernization, migration, or analytics transformation
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-phase programs with complex dependencies and multiple stakeholder groups
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks/lakehouse, Bronze/Silver/Gold concepts, BI tools such as Domo/Tableau)
- Comfort working with AI-enabled delivery patterns (e.g., AI-assisted extraction, workflow automation, exception handling)
- Strong communication and consulting-style stakeholder skills: executive updates, narrative building, and facilitation
- Ability to create high-quality program artifacts (process flows, architecture views, RAID logs, milestone plans)
Preferred
- Experience in investment management / private equity / real assets / investor reporting / credit underwriting environments
- Prior technology consulting background (client-facing delivery, structured problem solving, executive storytelling)
