Join Us as a Technical Professional Services Engineer!

At ORBCOMM, we're seeking highly skilled Technical Professional Services Engineers to lead customer-facing solution deployments, technical onboarding, and performance optimization across our refrigerated container and maritime IoT solutions. In this role, you'll be the go-to technical expert. Your mission: helping customers implement ORBCOMM technologies, streamline operations, and unlock the full potential of our platform.

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with global shipping lines, ports, and container OEMs while driving solution adoption, reliability, and customer satisfaction in mission-critical environments.

As a key member of our Customer Operations and Technical Services team, you'll collaborate with global customers across North America, Europe, LATAM, and APAC, supporting deployments on vessels, ports, and refrigerated container fleets worldwide. You'll work closely with engineering, product, customer success, and support teams to ensure seamless implementations and high-performance operations.

This role offers the chance to influence customer outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and play a hands-on role in transforming how the industry manages refrigerated containers and maritime logistics.

What You'll Do

Customer Enablement & Technical Delivery

  • Lead the technical implementation and onboarding of ORBCOMM solutions for shipping lines, ports, and container manufacturers.
  • Configure and validate customer environments, ensuring solution readiness and alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and integration issues across IoT devices and platform systems.
  • Provide technical expertise on reefer container operations, device behavior, and data flow.

Operational Performance & Escalation Management

  • Monitor customer KPIs and drive improvement actions to increase reliability and hit rates.
  • Manage technical escalations, coordinating root-cause investigations with engineering and support.
  • Follow and contribute to SOPs, ensuring consistency, quality, and operational excellence.

Customer Interaction & Training

  • Deliver engaging technical presentations, onboarding sessions, and solution training for customer teams.
  • Build strong customer and vendor relationships by acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Influence customer stakeholders by translating complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights.

Reporting, Insights & Automation

  • Create and refine reports, dashboards, and insights that communicate performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, system optimization, and process enhancement (nice to have).
  • Train internal and external teams on platform capabilities, best practices, and operation of ORBCOMM solutions.

Who You Are

You're a customer-focused technical problem solver who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys getting hands-on with devices, data, and operational processes.

If you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, Computer, or similar).
  • 45 years of experience in technical support, field engineering, professional services, or customer success engineering.
  • Strong understanding of operational environments (maritime, port, logistics, or industrial experience preferred).
  • Experience troubleshooting connected hardware/software systems, integrations, and IoT devices.
  • Excellent communication, customer interaction, and presentation skills.
  • Strong process mindset with proven ability to follow and enforce SOPs.
  • Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to enhance productivity, with a commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.
