ABOUT AIRTEL MONEY

Airtel Money Limited is Bharti Airtel's RBI-licensed Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), established in February 2026 to build a high-scale, digital-first lending platform for India. We bring simple, secure and innovative credit - personal loans, gold loans and more - to urban and rural customers through deeply integrated digital channels. Our engineering organisation is built on six first principles: resilience, scalability, redundancy, elasticity, security & privacy by design, and rapid, safe development.

ROLE SUMMARY

As a TechOps Engineer I, you are the first point of action on every production alert. Working a rotating 24×7 shift, you monitor the health of our lending platform, triage alerts the moment they fire, take defined first-response actions, and escalate cleanly to on-call engineers when needed. You keep our Tier-1 services - origination, underwriting, servicing and collections - running to their availability targets, and you are the reason a small issue never becomes a customer-impacting outage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as first responder to alerts from monitoring and security tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic), acknowledging within SLA and triaging by severity (Sev 1/2/3).
  • Execute documented first-response runbooks; resolve known issues and escalate the rest to on-call engineers via the ITSM/Service Now flow with clear, complete context.
  • Own the incident ticket lifecycle in Jira - creation, severity tagging, timeline notes and stakeholder updates — through to closure.
  • Monitor dashboards and service health across a rotating 24×7 shift, including nights, weekends and holidays, with a disciplined shift handover.
  • Support Sev-1 war rooms: coordinate communications, track actions, and keep the incident timeline accurate.
  • Flag recurring alerts and noise, and contribute improvements to runbooks and monitoring so response gets faster over time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–2 years in a NOC, TechOps, SRE, production-support or IT-operations role.
  • Comfort with Linux basics, reading logs, and running defined operational commands.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/alerting concepts and ticketing/ITSM tools (Jira or similar).
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating 24×7 shifts, and calm, clear communication under pressure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to cloud or container platforms (GCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic).
  • Basic scripting (Bash or Python) to automate routine checks.
  • Understanding of incident-severity models, on-call escalation and tools such as PagerDuty.
  • Curiosity about fintech, payments or regulated financial systems.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Within six months you triage and action alerts confidently against SLA, escalate with context that lets on-call engineers act immediately, keep incident records audit-ready, and your shift handovers are reliably clean - so Tier-1 services stay healthy on your watch.
