Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and manage teams of electrical design, automation, and controls engineers involved in SPM development.
- Mentor engineers on electrical design practices, standards compliance, safety concepts, and automation architecture.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Electrical, Automation & Component Expertise
- Own the selection and specification of electrical and automation components, including:
- Automation control panels
- PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, motors
- Sensors, actuators, safety devices
- Pneumatic and hydraulic control interfaces
- Possess strong expertise in electrical materials, wiring, cables, insulation classes, enclosures, grounding, and EMC considerations.
- Stay current with emerging automation technologies, Industry 4.0 concepts, smart sensors, and digital diagnostics to improve machine performance and reliability.
Electrical Design Ownership
- Provide technical ownership of electrical and automation design for special-purpose machines.
- Define electrical architecture, safety concepts, and control philosophies aligned with machine functionality and customer requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable electrical and functional safety standards.
- Review and validate:
- Electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- Panel layouts and cable schedules
- Power and thermal calculations
- Safety PL / SIL concepts
- Ensure seamless integration between electrical systems, automation software, and machine operation.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze machine electrical performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime, safety, and efficiency.
- Drive standardization of electrical designs, components, and documentation across projects.
- Recommend electrical and automation upgrades to reduce downtime and maintenance effort.
- Promote best practices in electrical design quality, documentation, and validation processes.
Project Management
- Manage and prioritize multiple electrical and automation projects simultaneously.
- Track project progress, risks, and costs related to electrical scope.
- Coordinate closely with manufacturing, quality, procurement, commissioning, and customer teams.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, challenges, and achievements.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with international standards and customer specifications.
- Ensure accurate and complete technical documentation, including drawings, calculations, manuals, and compliance records.

Work Experience
Educational Qualification
BE/B.Tech/M.Tech (Electrical and Electronics Engineering /Electrical and Instrumentation /Electronics and Communication)
Required Skills And Experience
- 15+ years of experience in electrical and automation design for Special Purpose Machines.
- Proven experience leading and managing electrical and automation teams.
- Strong background in electrical architecture, control systems, safety systems, and component selection.
- Strong understanding of electrical standards and functional safety principles.
- Expertise in Electrical CAD tools (SEE Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, servo systems, and VFD.
- Good Knowledge in Pneumatic systems and their component selections
- Experience with Industry 4.0, smart automation, and machine connectivity is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
Location Requirement
- Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Chennai.
