Job Summary

Database Design: Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize DB2 databases that meet application requirements within the z/OS environment.

Database Implementation: Install, configure, and set up DB2 database instances on the z/OS platform, creating and configuring tables, indexes, and stored procedures.

Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and index maintenance specific to the z/OS environment.

Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and integrity, taking z/OS specific considerations into account.

Security: Manage database security within the z/OS environment, configuring user roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing to protect sensitive data.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as patching, upgrading, and applying service packs to keep DB2 instances on the z/OS platform up to date.

High Availability: Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions tailored for DB2 databases in the z/OS environment, including data sharing and clustering.

Monitoring and Alerting: Set up monitoring tools specific to the z/OS environment to track database health and performance, configuring alerts for proactive issue resolution.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and incidents within the z/OS environment.

SQL and PL/SQL: Analyze and optimize SQL and PL/SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation on the z/OS platform.
