We're Hiring: Senior Tech Lead Platform, Reliability & Automation

At Urbanfix, we are building an internal platform product that enables reliable, observable, and highly automated software delivery across all our products.
We are looking for a Senior Tech Lead Platform, Reliability & Automation to help design, build, and scale this platform. This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of platform engineering, event-driven systems, automation, observability, and AI-native SDLC enablement.
You will work closely with the Founder, CTO, Head of Engineering, architects, and Product Tech Leads, turning platform vision into production-grade systems that teams can rely on.
What you will own
- The internal Platform for reliability, automation, and operations
- Platform standards and guardrails consumed by all product teams
- Event-driven foundations across AWS and Azure
- Deployment, observability, and automation foundations
- Automation and approval workflows built on the Twym AI Automation Platform (n8n + Camunda)
- Platform capabilities that future AI agents and external teams will integrate with
What you will do
- Act as Product Tech Lead for the Platform, Reliability & Automation layer
- Design and evolve event-driven architectures (Redis today, Kafka where scale demands)
- Build production-grade platform services primarily in Node.js, with Python for orchestration
- Define and enforce platform-wide observability standards using OpenTelemetry
- Design safe, auditable, AI-assisted automation workflows
- Drive architectural decisions, documentation, and long-term platform clarity
- Favor managed cloud services over unnecessary reinvention
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven experience as a hands-on Tech Lead on platform or large-scale systems
- Strong full-stack background with Node.js and Python
- Solid experience with AWS and Azure
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures
- Strong understanding of reliability, observability, and operational excellence
- Experience using LLMs in real engineering workflows
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with distributed teams (EU/US)
Strong advantages
- Platform or SRE background
- Kafka, Redis, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor
- n8n and/or Camunda in production
- Experience building AI-assisted or automation-first systems
