Premedia & Prepress Specialist serves as the definitive single point of client contact and a vital Technical Lead for a key customer account. This role requires an exceptional blend of deep technical mastery in image retouching and prepress quality control, coupled with strategic commercial acumen and process leadership. The incumbent will be the critical link, ensuring seamless communication, technical alignment, and strategic growth between the client and the offshore production teams.
1. Client Management & Communication (Single Point of Contact)
- Act as the single point of contact and technical lead for all client communications, escalations, and project requirements.
- Serve as the Liaison responsible for meticulously capturing, translating, and annotating all client instructions, creative briefs, and technical specifications for the offshore production team.
- Establish and maintain a deep, trusting relationship with the client, ensuring their brand standards, quality expectations, and project timelines are consistently met or exceeded.
2. Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Review RFP (Request for Proposal) and RFI (Request for Information) documents, deeply understand the scope of work, technical requirements, and strategic intent.
- Develop and provide detailed estimation for pricing and resource allocation based on the scope review, ensuring profitability and competitive advantage.
- Act as a critical link between the customer's strategic goals and the offshore team's operational capacity.
- Drive continuous improvement in the client relationship by identifying redudant steps, recommend solutions by identifying areas of improvement, driving profitability for the customer.
3. Technical Expertise & Quality Assurance
- Lead high-end retouching and quality control (QC), personally overseeing complex imagery and final deliverables to ensure absolute adherence to client standards and print/digital specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the offshore retouching artists and prepress teams.
- Define, document, and enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all technical workflows, particularly for new client onboarding, to ensure repeatable, world-class quality and efficiency.
Required Skills and Experience
Technical
- 15+ years of progressive experience in the premedia, prepress, and creative production industry.
- 15+ years of hands-on experience as a high-end Retouching Artist and Quality Control Specialist.
- Expert proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and preflight/prepress software.
- In-depth knowledge of color management, various print processes (offset, gravure, flexo), and digital asset delivery requirements.
Interpersonal & Leadership
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to lead client-facing interactions and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to be an influential Technical Lead, guiding and mentoring technical teams while maintaining complete control over client-facing technical discussions.
- Strong analytical skills to effectively review and interpret RFP/RFI data and translate it into actionable production and pricing models.
- Proven track record in creating and implementing SOPs for complex client onboarding and workflow integration.
