Technical Lead- Mechanical
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
He/ She performs a subset of all the engineering activities required to design and develop mechanical /structural components / modules as part of solution, achieving customer satisfaction of the delivered solution/product.
You will be an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer with a degree or equivalent, who have a solid understanding of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering principals and of Engineering Development lifecycles.
- Demonstrable experience in operating within highly regulated sectors, ideally Maritime, Defence or Aerospace.
- Experienced in 3D Cad Systems, ideally using CREO / CATIA
- Fundamental understanding of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering principals
- General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles
- Perform concept review and design review (PDR, CDR)
- Good general knowledge of mechanical design and conception
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Packaging of electronics and associated cabling.
- Design of racks or cabinets
- Design of consoles
- Designing for platform installation.
- Knowledge of relevant drawing standards
- Experience in the design of sonar assemblies and/or equipment for the sub-sea environment would be highly advantageous
- Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing best practice
- Perform Hand calculations to validate the structural design
- Good experience in BOM creation and Engineering Change processes
- Experience in wiring harness design and manufacturing requirement of wiring harness/cable harness
- Perform 3D cable routing and interconnect activities
- Should have experience of working with Cross functional teams (Electronics/Electrical design and system engineering teams)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASK:
- Carry out mechanical design activities in a team environment with other engineers.
- Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions.
- Trials and integration support

- Monitor compliance of designs against target costs and lead time
- Contributes to the Change Management of the product development
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, like machining, fabrication, sheet metal, surface treatments is required

CAD TOOLS - CATIA, Creo, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, MASTERCAM
MANUFACTURING - DFM, Jigs and Fixtures,
ANALYSIS - Structural analysis (static, modal analysis, shocks, vibrations), Stack Up Analysis, Thermal and Flow Analysis, Weight Analysis
Interconnect wiring harness - WHMA-620, IPC-610, MIL-Standards for wiring harness
DESIRABLE: Has formidable manufacturing experience and has exposure to technologies like 3D printing, electromechanical systems.
