Technical Lead (Java)

A fast-growing Marketing Technology Platform organization is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to help shape the future of its internal marketing ecosystem. The team is responsible for the strategy, development, and delivery of enterprise marketing platforms designed to improve customer engagement while maintaining efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.

As platform adoption and business requirements continue to expand, the organization is investing in senior engineering leadership capable of driving cross-functional initiatives, establishing technical direction, and delivering large-scale solutions across multiple product domains.

Role Summary

The Technical Lead will play a critical role throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and architectural planning through implementation, deployment, and operational support.

This position requires hands-on technical leadership, deep architectural expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering, product, infrastructure, quality assurance, and operations teams. The successful candidate will help define platform standards, influence engineering best practices, and ensure reliable, scalable delivery across interconnected products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead software projects from concept through production and ongoing operational support.
• Design and oversee architecture that spans multiple products, systems, and services.
• Convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions and implementation plans.
• Drive architectural decisions and provide technical guidance across engineering teams.
• Support development, testing, deployment, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering activities.
• Promote engineering best practices across coding standards, testing, reviews, and release processes.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and support technical growth within the organization.
• Coordinate complex troubleshooting efforts involving frontend, backend, infrastructure, platform, middleware, and reliability teams.
• Lead incident management activities, including triage, root-cause analysis, remediation, and preventative improvements.
• Communicate technical concepts and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong expertise in large-scale backend development.
• Proven experience designing architecture and solutions that span multiple products and service ecosystems.
• Track record of leading architecture, development, deployment, and operation of scalable microservices platforms.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong programming expertise in Java. Experience with React, PHP, and Python is beneficial.
• Solid experience with MySQL and relational database technologies, including data modeling, performance optimization, scalability, and reliability.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and technical leadership practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Extensive expertise in production support, troubleshooting, incident response, and end-to-end problem resolution.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to varying audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and success working across engineering, product, and operational functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data engineering, including ETL pipelines, data warehousing, and large-scale data processing.
• Knowledge of distributed computing technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
• Experience working with both relational and NoSQL database platforms.
• Hands-on exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience leading engineering teams, including people management, project governance, and budget oversight.
• Background in Marketing Technology (MarTech) or related platform environments.
