About the organization:

Established in 1993, WOTR is an NGO, known for its outstanding contribution in the development field focusing primarily on climate change, watershed development, capacity building of village groups and NGOs for participatory watershed development work, climate change adaption practices, training and extension, women's empowerment and micro credit, poverty reduction, etc. WOTR has successfully undertaken responsibilities as implementing agency, support agency, service provider for different national and international projects. (www.wotr.org). WOTR currently operates in seven states namely Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. Our head office is in Pune.

Job Description: Technical Expert (Civil /Agriculture- Engineer / Rural Development Context)

Location: Pen, Raigad

Summary

Provide technical guidance, planning, and Supervision for project activities related to, soil and water conservation, Drinking water and community-based interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Planning

  • Prepare technical designs for Various watershed structures, Water Hervesting Structures, Drinking water and irrigation systems, and land development.
  • Develop annual and seasonal work plans based on field requirements.

Implementation Support

  • Supervise field activities and ensure work is executed as per technical standards.
  • Verify measurements, layouts, and quality of structures.

Farmer & Community Engagement

  • Guide for Conducting training and awareness sessions for farmers on Water management and improved agricultural practices.
  • Support formation and strengthening of farmer groups and community institutions.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track physical and financial progress of activities.
  • Prepare progress reports, utilization reports, and technical documentation.

Quality Control

  • Ensure compliance with project guidelines and specifications.
  • Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Coordination

  • Liaise with project teams, government departments, and Funding Agency other NGOs, and stakeholders.
  • Support convergence with schemes related to water conservation.

Data Management

  • Maintain records of field data, beneficiary details, and technical estimates.
  • Use basic digital tools for reporting and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering,
  • 3–7 years of relevant field experience (watershed, soil conservation, irrigation, or rural development projects).

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical knowledge of watershed development and farming systems.
  • Ability to prepare estimates, layouts, and technical drawings.
  • Field supervision and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication in local language (Marathi/Hindi) and basic English.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, reporting formats, and documentation.

Key Deliverables

  • Approved technical plans and estimates.
  • Timely completion of physical targets.
  • Accurate progress and financial reports.
