About The Job
As our new
Technical Engineer – Pre & Post Sales Support, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between customer requirements and engineering solutions. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project Execution teams, you will provide technical expertise throughout the complete customer journey—from solution design and proposal preparation to commissioning and post-sales technical support.
This role combines strong engineering knowledge with customer engagement, requiring you to understand complex process requirements, develop technically sound solutions, and support successful project execution across the power generation and industrial sectors.
This position is based in Mumbai and reports to the Deputy General Manager – Technical. Regular travel to customer sites across India will be required.
Working Tasks & Responsibilities
- Provide pre-sales technical support for DEIF's steam turbine governing, control, protection, automation, and power management solutions.
- Understand customer requirements and develop technically optimized solutions for steam turbine control and industrial power generation applications.
- Review customer specifications, tender documents, P&IDs, technical drawings, and process requirements to prepare compliant solutions.
- Prepare technical proposals, compliance matrices, system architecture diagrams, bill of materials, and techno-commercial cost estimates.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution discussions with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and OEMs.
- Support the Sales team during customer meetings, proposal clarification, negotiations, and technical evaluations.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Product Management, and Project teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically robust, commercially competitive, and aligned with customer expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, system integrators, and end users within the power generation and process industries.
- Monitor market developments and customer requirements, providing valuable insights to support business growth and product development.
- Support smooth project handover from Sales to Project Execution by providing technical clarifications and documentation.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), customer inspections, and technical review meetings.
- Support installation verification, loop checking, I/O testing, and system validation prior to commissioning.
- Assist in site pre-commissioning and commissioning of steam turbine governing, control, protection, and automation systems.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation, PLC logic, communication networks, and field integration issues during commissioning activities.
- Work closely with customer Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure successful startup, system optimization, and performance acceptance.
- Deliver operator training and technical guidance during commissioning and initial plant operation.
- Prepare commissioning reports, site documentation, punch lists, and technical close-out reports.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, project activities, and technical support cases in the CRM system where applicable.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Service & Support, Engineering, and Operations teams to continuously improve customer satisfaction and project delivery.
- Follow DEIF's Quality Management System and Global Safety Policy while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–10 years of experience in steam turbines, turbine governing systems, industrial automation, control systems, or power generation applications.
- Strong understanding of:
- Steam turbine operation and governing systems
- Turbine control and protection systems
- PLC, SCADA, and industrial automation platforms
- Power generation and cogeneration plants
- Instrumentation and industrial control systems
- Experience reviewing technical specifications and preparing technical proposals and compliance documentation.
- Experience supporting customer discussions, technical presentations, and solution development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and sales teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively for customer meetings, factory testing, commissioning activities, and site support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with steam turbine governors and digital turbine control systems.
- Knowledge of Power Management Systems (PMS), generator control systems, synchronization, and load sharing applications.
- Exposure to industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, CAN, or IEC 61850.
- Understanding of control system architecture and industrial networking.
- Commercial awareness with an interest in business development and customer relationship management.
- Ability to convert technical discussions into practical business opportunities.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, OEMs, and industrial customers in the power generation sector.
