Role Overview
The OpenShift Administrator will be responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining Red Hat OpenShift clusters hosting the IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS). The role involves ensuring system stability, performance, security, and operational excellence for containerized enterprise applications on Azure or AWS cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
OpenShift & Cloud Administration
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters on Azure/AWS.
- Perform cluster maintenance, including patching, configuration updates, operator lifecycle management, and overall cluster health checks.
- Manage OpenShift cluster creation and lifecycle in ROSA (ROSA) and ARO (Azure Red Hat OpenShift).
Troubleshooting & Platform Support
- Troubleshoot issues related to pods, services, CRDs, storage classes, networking components, and OpenShift system resources.
- Collaborate with Maximo developers and functional teams to ensure environment readiness and smooth deployments.
Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code
- Create and update Ansible playbooks for MAS installation and environment setup.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and container lifecycle processes.
- Use Terraform or similar IaC tools for provisioning infrastructure.
Monitoring, Backup & Security
- Set up and manage monitoring tools such as Instana, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Implement and validate backup/restore strategies for the cluster, customer resources, and MongoDB.
- Work with security teams to harden OpenShift/MAS environments and ensure internal audit compliance.
- Manage certificates and uphold ITIL best practices.
Documentation & Assessments
- Create system documentation, operational runbooks, and perform disaster recovery testing.
- Conduct infrastructure sizing assessments for cluster setup and scaling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 510 years of experience in Linux and OpenShift administration.
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring OpenShift clusters on Azure or AWS.
- Solid knowledge of RHEL, Docker, Kubernetes, and container operations.
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python) and working knowledge of MongoDB.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Maximo Application Suite (MAS) deployments on Azure/AWS.
