Mission of the Role: Technical Artist is a specialized professional who combines artistic and technical skills to solve complex problems in the fields of 2D & 3D GUI, animations, and visual effects. They bridge the gap between creative designers and developers, ensuring that the creative vision is implemented effectively in a technical environment. This position will focus on leveraging the knowledge of software, programming languages and technical tools to troubleshoot and optimize the assets, working closely with designers and developers to convert the creative vision without losing the design intent. The range of products in scope are Instrument Clusters, Head-Up Displays, and Infotainment systems.
Key Objectives of this Role:
- Responsible for the implementation and optimization of UI Design related projects or aspects of the projects in defined scene composers.
- Assure high visual quality and performance on the target hardware, by smart application and combination of tools and skills.
- High independent communication with internal teams and external partners and customers.
- Close collaboration with other Technical Artists, UI Designers and Graphic Engineers within the global design team and customer peers.
- Support UI designers on asset setup, create and/or customize assets to fit defined implementation strategy.
- Write performance optimized shaders in defined languages (e.g. GLSL) for materials, behavior and animations of graphical elements.
- Support the integration of pre-defined plug-ins, materials, and effects from VFX library with support of more experienced Technical Artists and Graphic Engineers.
- Work within defined toolchains and processes and focus on continuous improvements of the workflow.
- Grow and maintain effective partnerships with internal and customer UI Design groups.
- Documentation for best practices.

Key Year One Deliverables:
- Deliver technical solutions for assigned projects, validated by performance testing.
- Support Roadmap Development: Support strategy roadmap with company objectives for the next 13 years.
- Support Design System Contribution: Support to establish or enhance a scalable design system to promote consistency and efficiency.
- Participation in all Internal meetings related to role and understand the scope with action points.
- Adoption of Visteon JIRA - Agile project management toolchain for assigned deliverables.
Qualification, Experience and Skills:
- 2-4 years of working experience as a technical artist in the gaming industry, user interface or preferably the automotive area
- Advance skills in 3D modelling and 2D design tools, such as 3Dsmax, Maya, Blender
- Proficient skills with scene composers or gaming enginelike Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, KANZi, QT, CGI Studio, EB Guide, Altia or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Blender & Godot is advantageous
- Proficient skills in After Effects for motion graphics with Good Knowledge of Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator etc.) is must
- Working experience with RIVE is advantageous
- Furthermore, good knowledge in 3D poly modelling, texturing and animation would be required
- Scripting in C# for custom behavior definition will be advantageous
