Unix System Architect 12 - 20 Yrs Job Description

Hiring, UNIX Architect (Senior Consultant) with following skills and experience.

• As a senior member of the UNIX Infrastructure Services team, you will have a broad range of technical knowledge specialising in UNIX administration, service delivery and automation. Your key focus will be leading and supporting the UNIX team as we seek to deliver a first- class UNIX platform that our development teams can build upon. Key activities for the UNIX team include:
• Developing new self- service solutions to offer as part of our UNIX platform.
• Developing automated tests and monitoring to guarantee all aspects of our platform work as expected.
• Providing outstanding support for teams who use our platform.
• Handling service requests, incidents and changes to keep the platform running smoothly.
• Offering thoughtful and informed consultancy to development teams to help them make best use of our platform.
• Offering thoughtful and informed consultancy to development teams to assist their understanding and use of infrastructure generally.
• As a senior member of the team, it is expected that you will take part in all of these activities and help to drive the team forwards. Additionally, it will be expected that you will support and guide your colleagues as they design effective solutions to problems, grow their understanding of development best practices and the key tenets of reliable service delivery.

Your skills and experience

• Essential skills and experience
• Experience architecting and building new, highly available and performant services.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring colleagues.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret problem statements and work with the requestor to deliver an effective solution.
• Experience delivering complete software solutions to complex business problems.
• Excellent understanding of UNIX system administration, with particular experience of RHEL.
• Good understanding of UNIX automation tools including scripting and various configuration management systems (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Experience developing service monitoring solutions using common tools (e.g. Nagios, Zabbix, Sensu).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Working knowledge of server and storage hardware from DELL, EMC, IBM, HP, Oracle/ SUN etc.
• Desirable skills and experience
• Good knowledge of AIX and Solaris.
• Particular knowledge of VMWare, Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, Postgres or Veritas products.
• Required Skills and Experience IT/ Computers- Hardware
