Job Description
We're hiring a Principal Backend Architect for a fast-growing, AI-first product startup building next-generation intelligent automation platforms. We're looking for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving complex system design challenges, can take end-to-end ownership of backend architecture, and thrives in a high-growth startup environment. You'll work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in shaping the company's technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Design and own scalable, secure, and high-performance backend architectures.
- Build distributed systems, microservices, and APIs powering AI-driven products.
- Drive technical decisions around cloud infrastructure, databases, and system reliability.
- Collaborate with product and AI teams to deliver robust backend solutions.
- Mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices and architecture standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with AWS and databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB.
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, caching, observability, and system reliability.
Good To Have
- Experience with AI/LLM applications, AI agents, or automation platforms.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior experience working in fast-paced product startups.
