Role: Architect - Platform Engineer
Experience Level: 10 to 15 Years
Work location: Bangalore/Mumbai
Role & Responsibilities:
- Design and own the Alibaba Cloud platform architecture aligned to an existing Azure-based reference architecture.
- Translate Azure PaaS, Kubernetes, IoT, data, and observability services into Alibaba Cloud equivalents with minimal application change.
- Define a cloud-agnostic, portable platform blueprint supporting deployments across Azure, GCP, and Alibaba Cloud.
- Architect Kubernetes (ACK), networking, security, identity, data, and obser ability layers on Alibaba.
- Ensure portability of services currently using Azure Kubernetes Service, IoT Hub, Databricks, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
- Establish IaC standards (IaC, Helm) that work consistently across clouds.
- Collaborate with the GCP implementation team to ensure Alibaba deployments remain aligned with the portable design.
- Define security, compliance, governance, and cost management strategies on Alibaba Cloud.
- Review implementation designs and guide infrastructure engineers during deployment and optimization.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of IT experience in the Infrastructure realm that includes detailed understanding of Cloud providers(GCP, AWS or Azure - added advantage to multi-Cloud experience) and their best practices, Networking, Compliances(HIPAA, GDPR, NIST), and Cloud services(serverless, server based)
- Detailed understanding and proven implementations for DevSecOps pipelines and culture, Containerization(Kubernetes, Docker), Service mesh(Envoy, Tanzu etc), Database modelling, and Operations(logging, monitoring, alerting)
- Thorough understanding of low-latency API architectures using either serverless or server based services
Must Have:
- 10+ years of infrastructure / platform architecture experience.
- Strong expertise in Alibaba Cloud architecture and services.
- Proven experience translating Azure architectures and PaaS services to other clouds.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes (ACK) and container-based platforms.
- Strong experience with IaC, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of enterprise cloud networking (VPCs, routing, private connectivity, load balancers).
- Experience implementing observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Ability to produce clear architecture artifacts and guide cross-cloud teams.
Good to Have:
- Experience with Azure Alibaba Cloud migrations or parallel deployments.
- Knowledge of Azure IoT Hub, Event Hubs, Databricks, and their Alibaba counterparts.
- Exposure to IoT, streaming, and large-scale data platforms.
- Alibaba Cloud certifications.
- Experience designing regulatory-compliant and cost-optimized platforms.
