About Applied

Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. Our expertise in modifying materials at atomic levels and on an industrial scale enables customers to transform possibilities into reality. At Applied Materials, our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.

About the team

GIS Engineering IT team is building the digital backbone that connects engineering, manufacturing and service across Applied's global operations. We're modernizing our Teamcenter platform, extending the digital thread from requirements through as-built equipment and bringing AI into engineering workflows. This role is central to that journey.

What you'll do

  • Own the functional architecture for Teamcenter/PLM, with deep focus on Product Configurator, Multi-BOM (MPP and Easy Plan) and the EBOM → MBOM → SBOM transformation.

  • Design and extend the digital thread across engineering, manufacturing and service - connecting requirements, CAD, BOM, manufacturing process, and as-built/as-maintained data into a continuous, traceable flow.

  • Define integration patterns between Teamcenter and ERP (SAP), MES ([Opcenter / SAP ME / other]) and adjacent systems, using REST/OData APIs, event streaming and middleware.

  • Develop data-migration strategies and roadmaps for moving from legacy systems into Teamcenter.

  • Identify and prototype AI/ML opportunities in PLM workflows - intelligent search, automated BOM reconciliation, part classification, predictive change-impact analysis and generative assistants for engineering authoring.

  • Evaluate and shape adoption of Siemens AI capabilities in Teamcenter (e.g., Teamcenter Intelligence, AI copilots), with attention to data governance, IP protection and responsible use.

  • Advance model-based engineering (MBE/MBSE) and digital twin practices, ensuring PLM data flows cleanly into simulation, manufacturing execution and field service.

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Service and Finance to translate business needs into PLM solutions and to surface opportunities for digitalization and process improvement.

  • Lead solution discovery, project portfolio planning, and service management conversations with business stakeholders.

  • Lead implementation of Teamcenter solutions end-to-end, ensuring adherence to best practices, GIS standards, and SOX controls.

  • Manage project scope, budget and timeline deliver within agreed guardrails and serve as team lead on larger, complex projects.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contractors on architecture, development, testing and change-management practices

What you'll bring (required)

  • Expertise in Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner (MPP), including BOP structuring, process-product-resource-plant (PPR) modeling, and EBOM-to-MBOM transformation.

  • Hands-on experience with Easy Plan for shop-floor work-instruction authoring and routing.

  • Strong command of Product Configurator, variant management, effectivity and change propagation across multi-site BOMs.

  • Proven experience integrating Teamcenter with ERP and MES platforms using modern integration patterns (REST/OData APIs, middleware, event-driven architectures).

  • Working knowledge of Active Workspace customization, BMIDE for data-model extensions and ITK/SOA for server-side logic.

  • Experience leading data-migration projects from legacy PLM or homegrown systems.

  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex technical decisions to business stakeholders and build consensus across functions.

Bonus points (preferred):

  • Experience with Teamcenter X / SaaS deployments or hybrid cloud PLM architectures on AWS or Azure.

  • Familiarity with digital thread, digital twin, MBE/MBSE and knowledge-graph / semantic-data approaches.

  • Exposure to AI/ML applied to engineering data - classification, similarity search, RAG over PLM content or LLM-powered copilots in enterprise settings.

  • DevOps/DataOps for PLM - CI/CD for BMIDE deployments, environment management, automated regression testing.

  • Master data management and part-classification standards.

  • Semiconductor capital equipment or other complex configure-to-order / engineer-to-order industry experience.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 12+ years as a Solution Architect with deep Teamcenter PLM implementation experience.
