Job Description

  • Manufacturing Compliances:
  • Strategic Advisory: advise manufacturing units on applicable compliance frameworks; oversee end-to-end compliance management systems, including legal requirement mapping, reporting, and periodic updates.
  • Governance & Culture: Drive adherence to compliance across all plants by embedding a compliance-first culture through collaboration with site leadership teams.
  • Audit & Risk Management: Lead periodic audits with business teams; design and execute compliance checklists, identify gaps, and ensure timely rectification and closure of compliance actions.
  • Licensing & Approvals: Manage manufacturing licenses, manage amendments aligned with business needs, and facilitate regulatory approvals with precision.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Provide expert guidance on labour laws, environmental regulations, and statutory requirements to enable seamless plant operations.
  • Cross-Business Integration: Partner closely with Group businesses to implement best practices and strengthen compliance frameworks across Paints manufacturing units.
  • Employment & Environment laws:
  • Strong command of environmental regulations, particularly Plastic Waste Management and Hazardous Waste Management Rules; collaborate with HQ and site EHS teams to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and drive sensitization initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of new labour codes; lead sensitization of site teams and oversee seamless compliance implementation across manufacturing units.
  • Hands-on expertise across labour and employment laws (Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, CLRA, BOCW), Factories Act, negotiable instruments, bank guarantees, and overdue accounts. Proficient in statutory requirements governing working conditions, health, and safety under applicable Labour Codes.
  • Partner with site teams and HR on disciplinary proceedings, statutory liaison, and employment-related litigations; advise on strategies to minimize disputes. Identify potential areas of conflict and deliver pre-emptive, practical solutions.
  • Conduct periodic training sessions on critical topics including the POSH Act, CLRA obligations.
  • Manage industrial disputes; represent the company before courts and the NGT on employment and environmental matters; draft and respond to SCNs, regulatory notices, and litigation documents.
  • Ability to prepare precise and impactful legal documents including plaints, show cause responses, written statements, appeal memos, claims, counterclaims, explanation letters, termination notices, and recovery notices.
  • Legal Documentation and Contract Management:
  • Partner with site teams to draft, vet, negotiate, and finalize a wide range of contracts ensuring legal robustness and business alignment.
  • Manage diverse agreements including vendor/supplier contracts, Master Services Agreements, Data Privacy Agreements, Software Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, renewals, extensions, addendums, work orders, Letters of Intent (LOI), Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), purchase and sales contracts, and standard General Terms & Conditions (GTCs).
  • Streamline contract processes to support seamless business operations and strengthen vendor and partner relationships.
  • Real Estate:
  • Conduct property due diligence to validate titles, mitigate risks, and manage lease/licensing documentation including stamping, execution, and registration.
  • Review and advise on property records (revenue maps, jamabandi/saat barah, ownership documents, encumbrances) and liaise with local authorities for compliance.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts with supply chain partners including 3PL providers, transporters, and C&F agents to ensure legal and commercial alignment.

Educational Qualification:LL.B. / LL.M., BA. LL.B. from reputable institute

PQE Experience: 5 - 7 yrs PQE

Language skills:Excellent English writing, articulation skills

  • Reporting: This role reports to the TL- Manufacturing and works closely with a team of legal counsels based out of Corporate HQ in Mumbai
