Key Job Responsibilities
1. Power Supply & Distribution Management
- Ensure continuous availability of power supply to critical areas (Production, QC, Warehouse, Utilities).
- Operate and maintain:
- HT/LT panels
- Transformers
- DG sets (diesel generators)
- UPS systems and battery banks
- Monitor electrical load distribution and optimize power consumption.
- Manage power changeover systems (Mains ↔ DG ↔ UPS) without interruption to critical equipment.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all electrical equipment.
- Perform predictive maintenance activities:
- Thermography (hotspot detection)
- Insulation resistance testing
- Vibration and current analysis
- Ensure zero breakdowns in critical utilities supporting manufacturing & HVAC systems.
3. Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Attend electrical breakdowns with defined response time.
- Troubleshoot:
- Motors, VFDs, PLC panels
- SCADA systems
- Control circuits and sensors
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
4. Calibration & Compliance
- Ensure calibration of:
- Electrical instruments
- Sensors and transmitters (temperature, humidity, differential pressure related to HVAC)
- Maintain records in compliance with cGMP documentation requirements.
- Support audits (USFDA, MHRA, internal audits) with proper data and documentation.
5. EHS & Electrical Safety
- Ensure electrical systems comply with safety standards:
- Earthing / grounding systems
- Lightning protection systems
- Electrical panel safety
- Implement:
- LOTO (Lockout Tagout)
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Conduct electrical safety audits and risk assessments.
6. Utility System Support
- Provide electrical support to:
- HVAC systems (AHU, chillers)
- Water systems (Purified Water, WFI)
- Compressed air systems
- Ensure uninterrupted electrical support to critical GMP utilities.
7. Energy Management & Cost Optimization
- Monitor energy consumption (daily/monthly tracking).
- Drive energy-saving initiatives:
- LED replacements
- Power factor improvement
- Demand control
- Support sustainability and cost reduction projects.
8. Documentation & GMP Compliance
- Maintain electrical logs:
- Daily logbooks
- Breakdown reports
- Preventive maintenance records
- Prepare SOPs, checklists, and work instructions.
- Ensure data integrity (ALCOA principles) in all records.
9. Projects & Improvements
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Participate in:
- Qualification activities (IQ, OQ support)
- Validation support (where electrical systems impact process)
- Execute Kaizen / TPM / Jishu Hozen initiatives for reliability improvement.
10. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with:
- Production teams for shutdown planning
- QA for compliance requirements
- External vendors for maintenance activities
- Supervise contractors and ensure safety & compliance.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E in Electrical Engineering
Experience
- 6 to 8 years (for Team Member level) in:
- Pharmaceutical / API / OSD manufacturing
- Highly regulated industries preferred
