Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Civil Infrastructure Maintenance
- Ensure upkeep and maintenance of production buildings, warehouses, utility blocks, laboratories, and administrative facilities.
- Monitor structural integrity of buildings and site infrastructure.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance of civil assets.
- Maintain roads, pathways, storm water drains, septic systems, and boundary walls.
- Ensure timely repair of cracks, leakages, flooring damages, and structural defects.
- Monitor condition of roofs, false ceilings, doors, windows, and architectural elements.
Cleanroom & GMP Facility Maintenance
- Maintain GMP-compliant production areas and controlled environments.
- Ensure integrity of epoxy flooring, wall panels, covings, and cleanroom finishes.
- Support maintenance of airlocks, change rooms, and classified areas.
- Coordinate repair activities without impacting cGMP compliance.
- Ensure facilities remain inspection-ready and audit-compliant.
Project Execution & Construction Management
- Execute civil construction and renovation projects.
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Review civil drawings, layouts, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate site inspections and construction progress reviews.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget, quality standards, and timelines.
- Verify work completion and certify contractor bills.
Facility Expansion & Modification
- Support installation of new manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and utility buildings.
- Coordinate civil works associated with equipment installation and plant expansion.
- Ensure compliance with approved layouts and engineering standards.
- Participate in facility modernization and infrastructure development projects.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Supervise external contractors and civil service providers.
- Ensure adherence to safety, GMP, and site regulations.
- Evaluate contractor performance and quality of work.
- Verify work permits and contractor documentation.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned projects and maintenance activities.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain civil maintenance records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Prepare SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
- Support regulatory audits, customer audits, and internal inspections.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, EHS, and statutory building requirements.
- Maintain drawings, layouts, and facility master documents.
Utilities & Infrastructure Support
- Monitor drainage systems, rainwater harvesting systems, underground tanks, and utility structures.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment foundations, pipe racks, and civil supports.
- Support utility and engineering teams during installations and upgrades.
- Coordinate infrastructure requirements for operational departments.
Safety, Health & Environment
- Ensure safe execution of civil works through permit-to-work systems.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Participate in incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental requirements.
- Promote safe work practices among contractors and employees.
Cost Control & Resource Management
- Prepare cost estimates and project budgets.
- Monitor material consumption and project expenditures.
- Optimize maintenance costs without affecting facility reliability.
- Support procurement of civil materials and contractor services.
- Track annual maintenance budget and project expenses.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for facility improvements and infrastructure optimization.
- Support Lean, TPM, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Drive projects related to sustainability and resource conservation.
- Implement improvements to increase facility reliability and workplace safety.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Engineering, EHS, Projects, and Supply Chain teams.
- Support facility readiness for inspections and audits.
- Participate in shutdown planning and project review meetings.
- Provide technical support for site infrastructure-related requirements.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 6-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, API, or regulated manufacturing industries.
- Experience in industrial construction, facility maintenance, and infrastructure management preferred.
- Exposure to GMP facility construction and maintenance is desirable.
