About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Team Leader – Clearance & Settlement to oversee a high-performing operations team managing the end-to-end trade lifecycle. The role requires a balance of strong domain expertise in securities settlement and effective team management, with a focus on driving performance metrics such as attrition, shrinkage, and BQ management.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence:

·        Oversee the end-to-end trade lifecycle including trade capture, matching, clearing, and settlement.

·        Ensure timely resolution of settlement breaks, discrepancies, and securities transfer issues.

·        Monitor and manage SWIFT messages (MT 500–599) with high accuracy.

·        Coordinate with brokers, custodians, counterparties, and internal stakeholders for seamless operations.

·        Ensure adherence to SLAs, compliance standards, and risk controls.

Team Management & Leadership:

·        Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operations associates.

·        Drive team performance against KPIs including productivity, quality, and turnaround time.

·        Actively manage attrition, shrinkage, and BQ (Bench Queue) management.

·        Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and training initiatives.

·        Handle escalations and ensure effective resolution of team and client issues.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

·        Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

·        Maintain accurate MIS reports on operations, performance metrics, and team productivity.

·        Collaborate with senior management to drive operational efficiency and service excellence.

Required Skills & Experience

·        Bachelor's degree (mandatory)

·        1 to 10 years of total experience, with minimum 1 year as a Team Leader

·        Strong understanding of the securities trade lifecycle (equities, ETFs, bonds, etc.)

·        Hands-on experience in settlement operations and securities transfers

·        In-depth knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards (MT 500–599)

·        Proven experience in managing teams and operational KPIs

·        Strong exposure to attrition control, shrinkage management, and BQ management

·        Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·        Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities

·        Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Background

·        Experience in brokerage, capital markets, or wealth management operations

·        Prior experience in handling international settlement processes
