Job Description:

Team Leadership & Workflow Management

  • Leading and overseeing a team of UK payroll executives to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Allocating tasks, monitoring workloads, and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Acting as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and discrepancies.

Payroll Calculation & Processing Oversight

  • Reviewing payroll calculations for accuracy, including salary, bonuses, overtime, and adjustments.
  • Ensuring correct calculation of PAYE tax, National Insurance (NI), and pension contributions.
  • Overseeing statutory payments such as maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick leave.

Employee & Company Setup Management

  • Supervising the setup of new companies within payroll systems.
  • Ensuring proper processing of new starters, including tax code validation and onboarding data.
  • Overseeing leaver processing, final pays, and P45 issuance.

Compliance & Statutory Submissions

  • Ensuring accurate and timely Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC.
  • Overseeing Auto Enrolment (AE) assessments, pension uploads, opt‑ins/opt‑outs, and compliance.
  • Keeping the team aligned with changing UK payroll regulations and industry standards.

Query Resolution & Quality Control

  • Handling escalated payroll issues, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring resolution.
  • Conducting periodic quality checks and payroll audits to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensuring team members follow proper documentation and audit‑ready record‑keeping.

HMRC & Client Communication

  • Liaising with HMRC regarding tax codes, payroll queries, and compliance concerns.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for key clients, providing updates and addressing issues.
  • Ensuring professional, timely, and accurate communication with clients and stakeholders.

Experience / Qualifications: -

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5–6+ years of experience in UK payroll processing, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Knowledge of Software - Xero, Bright pay, payroll manager, money soft, Free Agent, STAR and other payroll software.
  • Computer skills in Word, Outlook and Excel with experience using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Knowledge of UK payroll, taxes and compliances.
  • Comfortable in UK Shift (12: 30 PM IST – 10:00 PM IST (Indian Summers) 01: 00 PM IST - 11:00 PM IST (Indian Winters)
