Role Overview
We are looking for a Team Lead Retention Marketing to lead and grow our retention marketing practice. The ideal candidate is hands-on with retention tools like MoEngage, Clevertap, WebEngage, and has deep expertise in lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, and first-party data strategies. The role requires a strong understanding of retention channels like WhatsApp, Email, Push Notifications, and App Personalization while ensuring seamless orchestration of customer journeys across touchpoints.
As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for strategic planning, execution, client management, and team leadership to deliver high-impact retention campaigns for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Define and execute a best-in-class retention marketing strategy that improves customer engagement, loyalty, and revenue growth for our clients.
- Lead end-to-end campaign planning, execution, and optimization across WhatsApp, Email, Push Notifications, and in-app personalization.
- Implement multi-channel automation workflows using platforms like MoEngage, Clevertap, and WebEngage to enhance customer experience and lifecycle marketing.
- Drive data-driven personalization to create hyper-relevant customer journeys and maximize engagement.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a strategic advisor to brands on retention marketing, CRM, and customer lifecycle strategies.
- Work closely with brand teams, product teams, and growth marketing leaders to align retention efforts with business objectives.
- Present performance reports, insights, and recommendations to clients, ensuring continuous optimization.
First-Party Data & Customer Insights
- Leverage first-party data and customer segmentation to enhance targeting, personalization, and engagement.
- Work with data teams to analyze retention cohorts, CLTV (Customer Lifetime Value), and churn rates to refine strategies.
- Advocate for zero-party and first-party data collection strategies in response to changing privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Team Leadership & Growth
- Build and mentor a high-performing retention marketing team specializing in CRM, lifecycle automation, and engagement analytics.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, MarTech innovations, and emerging retention strategies to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Performance Marketing, Data Science, Product) to drive holistic customer engagement strategies.
Key Skills & Experience Required
Retention Marketing & CRM Expertise
- 5+ years of experience in CRM, retention marketing, and lifecycle automation in a D2C, eCommerce, Fintech, or SaaS environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with MoEngage, Clevertap, WebEngage or similar customer engagement platforms.
- Strong knowledge of email marketing, WhatsApp campaigns, push notifications, in-app messaging, and personalized app/web experiences.
Data-Driven & Customer-Centric Mindset
- Deep understanding of customer segmentation, behavioral analytics, and A/B testing methodologies.
- Strong ability to interpret data, identify insights, and drive action based on retention performance metrics (CLTV, repeat rates, churn reduction).
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Looker, or Power BI for campaign performance analysis.
Tech & MarTech Know-How
- Experience with marketing automation, audience segmentation, and customer data platform (CDP) integrations.
- Understanding of API-based integrations, webhooks, and data flows between retention platforms and CRM tools.
- Knowledge of privacy-first marketing, consent management, and first-party data activation strategies.
Leadership & Client Management
- Proven ability to manage clients, communicate strategies, and deliver measurable results.
- Strong team leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth, experimentation, and innovation in retention marketing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Marketing, Business, Data Science, or a related field.
- Certification in MoEngage, Clevertap, or WebEngage is a plus.
- Experience in eCommerce, fintech, or subscription-based businesses is highly preferred.
