Job Description

Position: Team Lead Master Data Management (MDM)

Location: AIND Shared Service Centre (SSC), Pune

Function: Master Data Management European Region

Reports To: Manager SSC, AIND Pune

Matrix Reporting To: Head Group IT & CDO

Job Purpose:

The Team Lead Master Data Management is responsible for building, managing, and developing the MDM team supporting the European division. The role ensures high-quality, compliant, and timely creation, maintenance, and governance of core master data including materials, customers, vendors, pricing, and BOM/routings. The position drives process excellence, data quality, automation, and stakeholder satisfaction, ensuring alignment with global data standards, regulatory requirements, and audit compliance within the Shared Service Centre, Pune.

Key Responsibilities (Main Activities):

Own end-to-end master data operations for Europe including intake, validation, enrichment, approvals, postings, and archival as per SLAs/KPIs.

Build, lead, coach, and develop the MDM team, ensuring capability building, succession planning, and a continuous-improvement culture.

Operate and enhance data governance including policies, controls, standards, RACI definitions, and stewardship across data domains.

Collaborate with European division teams, plant sites, and Group IT to resolve issues, support launches, and drive process harmonization.

Monitor data quality using KPIs, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective/preventive actions, and lead defect-prevention initiatives.

Drive automation and lean optimization using workflow tools, SAP MDG/MDM, RPA, templates, macros, and low-code dashboards.

Ensure compliance with audit standards, GDPR, segregation of duties, evidence requirements, and maintain up-to-date SOPs.

Plan capacity and shift coverage for European time zones, manage service escalations, and support budgeting and vendor interactions.

Core Experience Requirements:

Mandatory:

Minimum 7+ years of experience in master data management/MDG/MDM operations within automotive or complex multi-country manufacturing environments.

Minimum 3+ years of team-leading experience (10 FTE) in shared service or global business services setups, including hiring and performance management.

Hands-on experience in SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA master data (MM/SD/FI/CO; customer/vendor BP, material master, pricing, BOM/routings).

Proven experience in data quality controls, workflow management, governance frameworks, standards, RACI, and SOP implementation.

Strong track record of delivering against SLAs/KPIs, supporting audit/SOX readiness, and managing incidents/problems.

Optional but Valuable:

Experience in automotive Tier-1/Tier-2 operations such as PPAP, EDI management, APQP, and traceability.

Exposure to SAP MDG or third-party MDM tools (e.g., Informatica, Reltio) and involvement in data migration or cutover projects.

Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, ITIL, or project management certification.

Experience with CI/automation initiatives, RPA, macros, and workflow optimization.

Experience in nearshore/offshore execution models, vendor management, and peak-demand planning related to launches or M&A.

Functional & Technical Competencies:

Mandatory:

People leadership skills: coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and stakeholder management across cultures and time zones.

Strong process excellence background including process mapping, SOP creation, controls, RCA, CAPA, and continuous improvement.

Proficiency in data quality and governance frameworks including standards, definitions, stewardship models, and KPI reporting.

Strong command of SAP ECC and S/4HANA master data processes including change control and approval workflows.

Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to translate business needs into operational actions.

Optional but Valuable:

Automation and analytics skills including Excel advanced, macros, Power Query, Power BI, and basic SQL.

Experience in documentation, training material creation, UAT coordination, and knowledge management.

Understanding of GDPR, PII handling, segregation of duties, and audit documentation practices.

Change-management experience and ability to influence stakeholders in matrix/global environments.

Education & Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant field.

Master's degree in relevant discipline will be preferred.
