Job Title: Team Leader - Credit Operation (US Mortgage/Loan operations)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Team Leader – Credit Operations to manage and oversee loan origination, processing, and documentation activities. This role involves leading a team, ensuring compliance with credit guidelines, and driving operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards across all loan files.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Review & Documentation
- Review loan applications and supporting documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with credit and program guidelines.
- Collect, validate, and organize borrower documentation such as financial statements, tax returns, ownership records, and insurance papers.
- Identify and reconcile inconsistencies across documents (e.g., ownership details, revenue figures, entity names, and addresses), escalating discrepancies when required.
- Prepare loan files for underwriting submission and closing using standardized checklists and quality control measures.
2. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of loan processing and origination specialists.
- Set clear performance expectations and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality output.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and performance-driven work environment.
3. Loan Origination & Processing
- Oversee the end-to-end loan origination and processing lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and credit guidelines.
- Monitor loan pipelines, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues to maintain turnaround times.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with Sales, Underwriting, and Closing teams to address documentation gaps and ensure smooth file progression.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders on credit operations matters.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all loan documentation meets regulatory and internal compliance standards.
- Stay updated with industry trends, lending laws, and regulatory changes.
- Partner with compliance teams to maintain adherence to policies and procedures.
6. Reporting & Performance Management
- Track team performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
- Analyze operational data to identify improvement areas and implement process enhancements.
7. Customer Experience
- Ensure a seamless borrower experience by addressing queries and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain clear and professional communication throughout the loan lifecycle.
8. Systems & Record Management
- Maintain accurate records, updates, and notes in CRM and Loan Origination Systems (LOS).
- Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness at all times.
9. Training & Development
- Conduct onboarding and training sessions for new hires.
- Drive continuous learning and skill development within the team through coaching and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Credit Operations, Loan Origination, Processing, and Documentation.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Team Leader (official designation/on papers is mandatory).
- Willingness to work Night Shifts (US Shift) and Work From Office (WFO).
- Strong understanding of lending practices, credit policies, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in team leadership and people management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
