Job Description
*Kannada-speaking drama and teaching assistant*
*Title* : Drama / Teaching Assistant (Kannada + English/Hindi), short-term paid project, [Bangalore]
*About the project*
A student led community project - It is a short original play with about 15 children at an NGO. The script is ready. We need a reliable local helper to bridge the language gap and support the children through rehearsals and the final performance. The play and behind the scenes will be recorded and uploaded on YouTube.
*What you'll do*
- Interpret between Kannada and English/Hindi during sessions, so the project lead can communicate with the children
- Help organise and manage a group of about 15 children: attendance, grouping, warm-ups, keeping rehearsals on track
- Teach the basics of acting: voice, expression, movement, learning and delivering lines.
- Join 1–2 introductory visits before the main rehearsal time to meet the children and see their skills
- Help find simple props and accessories for the play
- Support the performance day.
You're a supporting guide. The project is led by a young person, and the aim is for her to lead with you backing her up.
*Schedule*
- 1–2 introductory visits beforehand
- A short intensive block during the winter break, roughly [7–10 days], with daily sessions of about [1.5 hours]
- A final performance, [date TBC]
- Dates to be confirmed with the successful applicant
*You should have*
- Fluent Kannada, plus working English or Hindi (required)
- Any kind of experience with students, such as a preschool or school teacher, junior drama teacher, theatre or drama club member, or youth worker
- Patience and reliability
- Willingness to follow child-safeguarding guidelines and provide your references
*Type and pay:* Freelance, short-term. Paid at [ ___ per day / fixed fee ___].
*Location* : On-site at a partner NGO in [Bangalore, exact area to be shared with shortlisted applicants].
