Job Description

Science is not just a subject at Shrewsbury International School India — it is a way of thinking. We are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Science to join a founding department that is already setting an ambitious standard: a curriculum built around practical, hands-on discovery, where curiosity is as valued as the correct answer.

If you are a scientist at heart who also happens to be a gifted teacher, and you are ready to bring that combination to one of the most exciting new schools in Asia, we want to hear from you.

About the school:

Opened in August 2025, Shrewsbury International School India is the newest and largest boarding school for students aged 11 to 18 in India. Set on a breathtaking 150-acre campus in Madhya Pradesh at the very heart of the subcontinent the school is a flagship institution within the JSW Schools group and a proud extension of the globally respected Shrewsbury brand.

The school delivers a rigorous British curriculum: CIE Lower Secondary, progressing through IGCSEs to A Level, embedded within the holistic, whole-person philosophy for which Shrewsbury has been celebrated for over 450 years. Purpose-built science facilities sit alongside unparalleled provision for co-curricular and boarding life creating a community where intellectual rigour and personal growth are equally prized.

The role:

Due to the school's rapid expansion, we are growing our Science Department and are seeking a passionate, dedicated and experienced teacher with the ability to teach up to A Level in at least one science discipline. The department's defining focus is a skills-based curriculum that places practical science at the centre of learning at every stage from the wonder of early secondary through to the precision of A Level.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging, practical and rigorous Science lessons across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A Level
  • Contribute to the identity and continued growth of a strong founding Science Department
  • Champion a culture of enquiry, experimentation and evidence-based thinking across the school
  • Make full use of the school's exceptional, purpose-built laboratory and science facilities
  • Play an active and enthusiastic role in the wider life of the school community

Who we are looking for:
  • A qualified teacher with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related science discipline
  • Proven experience teaching up to A Level within a British or international curriculum framework
  • A genuine passion for practical, inquiry-led science and the ability to make that passion contagious in the classroom and the lab
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) framework, or a clear willingness to transition into it
  • A collaborative, intellectually curious professional who holds themselves and their students to the highest standards
  • Someone who understands that great science teaching is as much about fostering wonder as it is about delivering content
What we offer:
  • A competitive and attractive salary package
  • Semi-furnished on-campus accommodation
  • Tuition fee remission for up to two children at Shrewsbury India — or equivalent remission at a local JSW sister school if your children are not yet of secondary age
  • World-class science facilities purpose-built for practical and investigative teaching
  • The opportunity to help shape a founding department and contribute to its long-term character
  • A collegial, ambitious and values-driven professional community
  • The Shrewsbury name and all the heritage, network and purpose that comes with it

How to apply:

Complete the application form and submit it to [Confidential Information] by 17:00 IST, Friday 8 May 2026.

Initial interviews will be conducted online during the week commencing 11 May 2026.
