Job Description

Design and Technology sits at the intersection of imagination and rigour and at Shrewsbury International School India, we think that is exactly where great education lives. We are looking for an exceptional Teacher of Design and Technology to join a founding department that is already building something distinctive: a skills-based D&T curriculum that runs as a spine through every year of school life.

This is a rare chance to help define what D&T looks like at one of the most ambitious new schools in Asia and to do it under one of the world's most respected school names.

About the school

Opened in August 2025, Shrewsbury International School India is the newest and largest boarding school for students aged 11 to 18 in India. Set on a breathtaking 150-acre campus in Madhya Pradesh at the very heart of the subcontinent the school is a flagship institution within the JSW Schools group and a proud extension of the globally respected Shrewsbury brand.

The school delivers a rigorous British curriculum: CIE Lower Secondary, progressing through IGCSEs to A Level, embedded within the holistic, whole-person philosophy for which Shrewsbury has been celebrated for over 450 years. State-of-the-art academic facilities sit alongside unparalleled provision for co-curricular and boarding life creating a community where intellectual ambition and creative excellence go hand in hand.

The role

Due to the school's rapid expansion, we are growing our D&T Department and are looking for a passionate, dedicated and experienced teacher with the ability to teach confidently up to A Level. The department's focus is a skills-based curriculum that embeds Design and Technology meaningfully at every stage from the creativity of early secondary through to the analytical demands of A Level.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver inspiring, skills-led Design and Technology lessons across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A Level
  • Contribute to the vision and continued development of a strong founding D&T Department
  • Foster a culture of making, problem-solving and design thinking across the school
  • Make full use of the school's exceptional, purpose-built facilities for practical and project-based learning
  • Play an active and enthusiastic role in the wider life of the school community

Who we are looking for
  • A qualified teacher with a strong academic and practical background in Design and Technology
  • Proven experience teaching up to A Level within a British or international curriculum framework
  • A genuine passion for skills-based, project-led learning and the ability to bring that energy into the classroom every day
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) framework, or a clear willingness to transition into it
  • A collaborative, growth-oriented professional who thrives in a high-expectation, creative environment
  • Someone who sees the workshop and the studio as spaces where character, as much as skill, is built

What we offer
  • A competitive and attractive salary package
  • Semi-furnished on-campus accommodation
  • Tuition fee remission for up to two children at Shrewsbury India or equivalent remission at a local JSW sister school if your children are not yet of secondary age
  • World-class D&T facilities purpose-built for hands-on, creative teaching
  • The opportunity to shape a founding department and leave a lasting mark on its identity
  • A collegial, ambitious and values-driven professional community
  • The Shrewsbury name and all the heritage, network and purpose that comes with it
