Job Title: Pre-Primary / Homeroom Teacher
Location: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Reports to: Kindergarten / Primary Coordinator / Principal
Curriculum: American / British / International Curriculum
Job Purpose
To provide a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for early years students, fostering their cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development in alignment with international curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate, inquiry-based lessons that meet international curriculum benchmarks.
- Create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports individual learning styles.
- Establish clear routines, structure, and positive behavior management strategies.
- Foster early literacy, numeracy, and foundational life skills through play-based and thematic learning.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate effectively with parents on student development and progress.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, support staff, and other homeroom teachers for curriculum planning and school events.
- Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of all children under care at all times.
- Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant teaching experience in American, British, or International Curriculum schools.
- Graduation in any discipline, plus a Diploma / Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Education (e.g., B.Ed., M.Ed., or PGCE).
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in early childhood or primary classroom settings.
- Culturally sensitive, creative, and enthusiastic about teaching young learners.
Preferable Qualifications
- IELTS score of 6.0 or above (especially for non-native English speakers).
- Experience with child-centered, inquiry-based approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or IB PYP.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital learning tools.
