TCS Kolkata Is Hiring for Purchasing Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Summary:
The Purchasing Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide process expertise, guidance, and operational oversight across offshore purchasing and procurement administration activities. The role will support sourcing administration, procurement intake and planning, PO management, PO expediting, supplier and stakeholder coordination, controls, reporting, risk tracking, and issue resolution to ensure accurate execution, process compliance, and SLA/TAT adherence.
Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement operations, sourcing administration, supplier coordination, P2P controls, or shared-services procurement processes.
- Strong subject matter expertise across procurement intake, SOW/requirement validation, PO creation, PO amendments, variations, closure, expediting, reporting, and issue management.
- Ability to guide team members, review complex transactions, provide process clarifications, and support governance discussions with stakeholders.
- Excellent supplier and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to manage escalations, follow-ups, and status updates professionally.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- MBA in Supply Chain Preferred.
- Experience with ERP/procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle JD Edwards, Coupa, Ariba, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to RFx administration, catalogue management, procurement dashboards, and operational reporting.
- Familiarity with Power BI or reporting tools.
Responsibilities:
- Provide SME support for RFx execution, supplier engagement, commercial coordination, catalogue management, clarification handling, and documentation quality checks.
- Validate Contract/requirement details, conduct follow-ups, support procurement planning, and guide the team on correct process routing.
- Oversee and support PO creation, validation, amendments, variations, closure activities, exception handling, and process compliance across purchasing transactions.
- Maintain P2P compliance, support operational reporting, track risks and issues, perform quality checks, manage queries, and drive closure of process exceptions.
- Lead supplier liaison, performance follow-ups, stakeholder updates, project communication, and alignment with internal teams for timely resolution and governance reporting.
