What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Lead and inspire a team of experienced indirect tax researchers focused on rates, boundaries, and compliance filing data
- Oversee the research and interpretation of rates, filing requirements, and boundary shapefiles
- Collaborate with product, tax research, and engineering teams to deliver accurate, applicable insights
- Manage projects to grow research operations following Avalaras growth
- Help shape the future of tax compliance automation through research and technology integration
What you'll Need to be Successful
- Manipulate and process boundary shape files and complex tax rate data
- Manage teams, including resource allocation, workload balancing, and giving/receiving constructive feedback
- A natural curiosity about technology and an interest in innovation and learning about new areas of transaction taxes
- A bachelors degree in Geographic Information Systems or equivalent, in finance, economics, business administration, or accounting with 6+ years of experience processing and manipulating boundary shapefiles. A masters in Geographic Info Systems may be substituted for 3 years of experience.
- Excellent research skills, including a logical, creative, and detailed approach to drilling down to specific data to surface information that is important to the accuracy of the published content.
- You will have 2+ years of tax technology experience, specifically with boundary data
