Job Description

The Tax Accountant - Senior is responsible for the preparation of complex tax returns and execution of complex projects related to the application of tax laws. This role ensures compliance with tax regulations, supports tax audits, and provides guidance to less-experienced tax staff.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Executes complex projects related to the application of tax law.

  • Prepares complex tax returns and reviews basic tax returns and tax reconciliations.

  • Provides guidance to less-experienced tax staff.

  • Researches and interprets tax laws, analyzes and summarizes tax information, and makes recommendations to ensure compliance.

  • Prepares reports supporting positions taken on federal and state tax returns and provisions.

  • Supports tax audits by gathering data, addressing questions, and resolving issues.

  • Leads a team of 3-4 tax resources and coordinates with large tax and non-tax sources within the organization.

  • Ensures timely filing of periodic GST returns in coordination with BU teams and tax submissions to authorities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting required.
  • CA / CWA preferred.
  • Progress toward Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or similar certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 6 - 8 years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years in Indirect Tax.
  • 2-3 years of IT/automation experience and knowledge of IT systems.
  • Experience working in MNCs or sizable Indian organizations with multiple LEs and PAN India business presence.
  • Experience handling 25-30 GST registrations.
  • Industry background in Manufacturing (preferably Auto/Auto components), but candidates from consulting with relevant hands-on experience are also considered.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ensuring filing of periodic GST returns and timely tax submissions.
  • Liaison with tax authorities for routine compliance matters.
  • Financial Regulations Acumen - Ensures compliance with tax, banking, pension, and local accounting regulations.
  • Tax Based Modeling and Computation - Performs income tax provision computations and tax modeling.
  • Tax Technical Analysis - Researches regulations, tax code, and case law.
  • Project Management - Balances scope, schedule, and resources for projects.
