Job Summary:

The Tax Accountant's primary responsibilities include handling paid tax reporting(to client's consultant) and reconciliation for the project. This role also involves gathering and redacting invoices where taxes have been paid, then compiling them to submit to the customer's tax consultant for review. The Tax Accountant will report to the Project Accounting Manager. Additionally, this position requires maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating strong ethical conduct, exhibiting a professional communication style, being customer-oriented, showing flexibility, and having a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Review invoices for proper tax exemptions application.
  • Keep and update a vendor tax exemption list with stakeholders monthly or as needed
  • Coordinate with supply chain to resolve issues
  • Notify compliance team of tax discrepancies
  • Complete all reports per Non-Disclosure Agreement guidelines
  • Report on taxes paid monthly to the Accounting Manager for review before eventual submission to the customer's consultant
  • Verify invoice compliance with project/corporate policies
  • Attend periodic stakeholder meetings
  • Help resolve issues, monitor communications, and escalate unresolved matters to Project Accounting Manager
  • Reconcile accounts with corporate compliance teams, if needed.
  • Identify and document process improvements
  • Handle other Tax Accounting tasks as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 4-6 years of experience or 8-10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Prior Bechtel experience would be considered an asset.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have strong customer service focus
  • Must be dependable, punctual, conscientious, and function well in a team environment
  • Prior experience in Tax Reporting and Accounting using a major ERP (Oracle/SAP/other) system is highly desirable
  • The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and maintain composure under stress
  • The ideal candidate must be self-starter capable of working independently, taking initiative identifying and resolving issues, managing workload, and handling correspondence
  • The ideal candidate must possess good organizational skills, ability to provide constant attention to detail, and have ability to apply quality control over a heavy volume of work with tight deadlines
  • Candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality of all information entrusted to the position
