Tanium Engineer - Endpoint & Database Patching Specialist

Employment Type: 12-month renewable contract
We are looking for an experienced Tanium Engineer to support the design, deployment, configuration, and optimization of the Tanium platform within a complex enterprise environment.
This role is highly delivery-focused and will require strong hands-on experience in Tanium Core, Tanium Patch, endpoint patching, database patching, compliance reporting, remediation, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, administer, and maintain Tanium Core and related Tanium modules.
- Lead enterprise patching operations using Tanium Patch, including patch planning, scheduling, ring/wave deployment, remediation, compliance tracking, and exception handling.
- Design and execute patching workflows for databases using Tanium, ensuring minimal business disruption and alignment with maintenance windows and change control.
- Build and manage Tanium sensors, packages, saved questions, dashboards, and automated actions.
- Configure and maintain integrations through Tanium Connect, including SIEM, CMDB, ITSM, and data lake platforms.
- Develop dashboards and reports using Tanium Reporting and Trends to provide visibility on endpoint health, patch compliance, and configuration posture.
- Support asset inventory, endpoint discovery, software deployment, and compliance activities.
- Troubleshoot Tanium client, server, and module performance issues across enterprise environments.
- Work closely with security, infrastructure, database, and operations teams to align Tanium capabilities with business and compliance requirements.
- Prepare documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Tanium experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Tanium Core and modules such as Asset, Automate, Connect, Discover, Engage, Interact, Reporting, Trends, Deploy, Patch, Performance, and Comply.
- Deep hands-on experience with Tanium Patch, including large-scale patch deployment and remediation.
- Proven experience in database patching using Tanium.
- Good understanding of endpoint management, patch management lifecycle, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across Windows and Linux endpoints.
- Ability to write and interpret Tanium sensors, packages, and queries.
- Good stakeholder management and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Tanium certifications such as Tanium Certified Operator, Tanium Certified Administrator, or module-specific certifications.
- Experience integrating Tanium with ServiceNow, CMDB, SIEM, or related platforms.
- Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Familiarity with ITIL and change management processes.
- Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments.
