Job Description

The Talent & Culture Generalist supports end‑to‑end employee lifecycle operations for Calix India, driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous simplification. The role leverages HR systems (Workday) and enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and enhance employee and manager experience. In addition, the role partners with Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Compensation & Benefits, and Payroll to deliver timely, high‑quality people processes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Act as the day‑to‑day operational point of contact for employees, managers, recruiters, and cross-functional stakeholders on standard HR processes, escalating non-standard issues as needed
  • Support managers and leaders with information on HR processes, approvals, and timelines based on defined policies
  • Coordinate onboarding for new hires by collaborating with internal teams to ensure a seamless joining experience
  • Execute employee exit processes end‑to‑end, including documentation, system updates, and exit experience
  • Manage background verification processes and coordinate with external vendors to close cases
  • Process Workday transactions related to joining, probation, internal movements, exits, and employee documentation
  • Partner with Workday teams to improve data quality, streamline lifecycle processes, and support workflow enhancements and standardization
  • Identify repetitive activities in HR operations and propose simple automation or process improvements
  • Leverage technology (e.g., Excel, Copilot, templates, and enterprise systems) to improve HR communication, reduce turnaround time, and minimize errors
  • Contribute to building self-service resources (FAQs, guides, templates) using AI-assisted methods
  • Manage HR compliance transactions and documentation, ensuring adherence to India labor laws, internal policies, and statutory requirements
  • Coordinate payroll‑impacting inputs including exits, special payments, and on‑call support payments
  • Maintain and update India‑specific employee documentation, including the Employee Handbook and annexures, in coordination with internal teams

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience supporting HR operations or employee lifecycle processes in an India context
  • Comfort using AI tools for productivity (documentation, analysis, communication support)
  • Strong attention to detail and judgment, with the ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion
  • Ability to work effectively with HRIS platforms such as Workday
