Talent & Learning Partner - Electrification

The Talent & Learning Partner plays a pivotal role in designing and executing integrated talent and learning strategies for the Electrification Business Area. Acting as a trusted partner to HR Business Partners, Functional Leaders, and the EL Talent & Learning Leader, this role ensures that capability-building and people development initiatives are aligned with both Electrification strategic priorities and ABB Group directives.

A significant and defining portion of this role is dedicated to learning: owning and evolving the EL learning ecosystem, driving learning governance, maintaining data quality, developing and deploying learning content, and acting as the primary connector between the Electrification Business Area and the ABB Global Learning Organization.

Key Focus Area: Learning - EL Academy & Global Alignment

Learning is the central pillar of this role. The Talent & Learning Partner is the key owner and driver of learning for the Electrification Business Area, accountable for the full learning value chain: from strategy and governance to data, content, and deployment. The five interconnected learning priorities below define the core of this position:

1. EL Academy

Own and continuously evolve the EL Academy as the central learning platform for the Electrification Business Area. Maintain and improve the EL Common Learning Catalogue, ensuring it is clean, relevant, and actively used by the business. Engage and partner with Community Leaders and Functional Leaders to co-own catalogue quality, driving regular reviews and updates. Develop and implement clear ownership principles so the Academy remains a trusted, high-value learning destination for all EL employees globally.

2. Learning Governance

Define, implement, and continuously improve learning governance frameworks for EL, including policies, standards, and processes that ensure consistency and quality across all business units and divisions. Lead the Learning Community of Practice (CoP) across EL, establishing a regular global rhythm (quarterly cadence), shared resources, and active participation from key Learning Partners. Drive catalogue governance so that decisions on learning content - what stays, what evolves, what is decommissioned - are made in a structured, transparent, and scalable way.

3. Learning Data & Reporting

Build and maintain robust learning data pipelines and dashboards for EL, ensuring accuracy and consistency across inventories, catalogues, and reporting tools. Serve as the go-to expert for EL learning data, enabling HRBPs and Community Leaders to make evidence-based decisions. Continuously improve reporting quality, reducing discrepancies quarter over quarter and building trust in data as a management tool. Develop data literacy across the EL learning community.

4. Learning Development & Deployment

Design and deploy learning solutions that address EL-specific capability gaps - from leadership and functional skills to onboarding and transformation programmes. Apply modern instructional design methodologies and leverage digital tools and LMS platforms to ensure scalable, user-centric solutions. Drive the development of key learning operations deliverables (Playbooks, CoP outputs, LMS configurations, reporting improvements) that reduce complexity and elevate the stakeholder experience. Evaluate learning effectiveness using data and iterate on solutions to maximise impact.

5. Collaboration with ABB Global Learning Organization

Act as the primary liaison between the Electrification Business Area and ABB's Global Learning Organization, ensuring EL learning priorities are aligned with Group strategy, standards, and platforms. Translate Group-level directives into locally actionable solutions and represent EL's needs and insights back to the global community. Foster a collaborative, trusted-advisor relationship across HRBPs, Functions, Divisions, and Group-level teams to accelerate learning initiatives and avoid duplication of effort.

In addition to the learning priorities described above, you will be accountable for:

  • Implementing the EL talent and learning strategy in alignment with ABB Group guidance, policies, and procedures.

  • Partnering with HR Business Partners and business leaders across EL to identify capability gaps and translate strategic priorities into targeted learning initiatives.

  • Designing and delivering leadership, talent, and learning solutions that are consistent, relevant, and measurable across EL divisions and geographies.

  • Recommending, developing, and implementing best-in-class learning solutions linked to the leader role lifecycle, including career guidance, succession planning support, and special development programs.

  • Defining, implementing, and continuously optimising HR processes, procedures, and systems within the area of functional responsibility.

  • Measuring and evaluating program effectiveness, using data and insights to continuously improve solutions and ensure return on learning investment.

  • Coaching and advising HR and business leaders on development topics, contributing to the evolution of HR tools and processes.

  • Contributing to the broader EL HR community as a trusted thought partner, actively connecting stakeholders within EL and at Group level to foster alignment and accelerate progress on talent and learning initiatives.

Qualifications for the role

What we require:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or a related field, ideally in a global, matrixed organization.

  • Demonstrated expertise in learning governance, LMS administration, learning catalogue management, and learning data/reporting.

  • Proven track record of working across countries and cultures, driving global or cross-functional projects in complex international organisations.

  • Strong skills in learning design methodologies, instructional design, and talent development frameworks, with the ability to translate business needs into effective solutions.

  • Experience managing and evolving learning ecosystems, including Communities of Practice, learning catalogues, and digital learning platforms.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders, including HR leadership, HRBPs, and functional leaders, without formal authority.

  • Strong data literacy: ability to build, maintain, and communicate learning dashboards and reports to drive decision-making.

  • Fluent in English additional languages are a plus.

What we value:

  • Experience working directly with a global HR Centre of Excellence or a corporate learning organisation.

  • Familiarity with ABB systems (e.g., LMS, Workday, reporting tools) or equivalent enterprise HR technology.

  • Certification in instructional design, learning evaluation (e.g., Kirkpatrick), project management, or coaching.

  • Experience in engineering, technology, or industrial sectors.

  • Passion for simplification: the courage to challenge the status quo, eliminate barriers, and reimagine learning from the learner perspective.

  • A collaborative and transparent communication style that stakeholders describe as easy, constructive, and enabling faster progress.
