Tailor Master (Cutting & Stitching)
Industry:Export Home Furnishing
Experience Required:Minimum 35 Years (Export Home Furnishing Only)
Education:Well-educated (Minimum Diploma in Textile or relevant field preferred)
Role Objective:
To independently manage and supervise cutting and stitching operations for export home furnishing products, ensuring accurate measurements, fabric optimisation, production efficiency, and strict adherence to international quality standards.
Key Role Responsibilities
1. Cutting & Production Supervision
- Execute and supervise precise fabric cutting as per buyer specifications and approved samples.
- Ensure pattern accuracy, measurement consistency and fabric direction alignment.
- Minimise fabric wastage through effective marker planning.
- Handle bulk production cutting with zero tolerance for size deviations.
2. Stitching & Finishing Oversight
- Supervise stitching operations for products such as cushions, curtains, table linens, duvet covers, quilts, and other home textile items.
- Ensure seam strength, thread quality and finishing meet export standards.
- Maintain consistency between approved samples and bulk production.
- Monitor finishing quality before dispatch to finishing/packing department.
3. Measurement & Calculation Handling
- Independently perform fabric consumption calculations.
- Calculate average cutting ratios and wastage percentages.
- Estimate thread, lining, interlining and accessory requirements.
- Prepare production breakdowns and cutting plans as per order quantity.
4. Quality Compliance (Export Standards)
- Ensure products meet international/national buyer specifications.
- Follow AQL standards and internal QC protocols.
- Rectify production errors immediately to avoid rejections.
- Maintain documentation related to cutting and stitching approvals.
5. Team Management
- Supervise tailors, helpers and cutting masters.
- Allocate daily production targets.
- Train junior staff on export-quality stitching standards.
- Maintain discipline and workflow efficiency on the production floor.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with sampling, merchandising and quality teams.
- Communicate fabric defects or construction issues proactively.
- Submit daily production reports and fabric utilisation reports to management.
Required Skill Set
- Strong expertise in export home furnishing production.
- Excellent understanding of fabric behaviour (cotton, polyester, blends, jacquard, etc.).
- Strong numerical ability for average and consumption calculations.
- Capability to read technical sheets and buyer instructions independently.
- Knowledge of industrial sewing machines and cutting equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and production planning skills.
- Basic computer knowledge (Excel preferred).

- Timely production completion as per shipment schedules.
- High stitching quality with minimal alterations or rework.
