Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer with deep expertise in Tableau migrations, specifically transitioning Tableau On-Prem environments to Tableau SaaS (Tableau Cloud). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience executing end-to-end migration projects, strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, and practical exposure to AWS services. This role requires both technical execution and migration planning skills, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth and secure transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute end-to-end Tableau On-Prem to SaaS migration projects, including assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration support.
- Perform detailed analysis of existing Tableau Server environments (workbooks, data sources, users, schedules, permissions, extensions).
- Design and implement migration strategies, including content rationalization and performance optimization.
- Migrate Tableau content to Tableau Cloud, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Reconfigure authentication, authorization, row-level security, and user access post-migration.
- Integrate Tableau Cloud with cloud-based data sources and services hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
- Automate migration, monitoring, and validation tasks using scripts or Tableau APIs where applicable.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and business teams to meet compliance and governance requirements.
- Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and post-migration support.
Required Skills & Qualifications - 8+ years of overall experience in BI, analytics, or data engineering roles
- Hands-on experience with Tableau On-Prem to Tableau SaaS (Tableau Cloud) migrations.
- Expertise in Tableau Server architecture, Tableau Cloud, and Tableau administration.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and networking concepts.
- Experience migrating and managing cloud-based data sources (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc. – as applicable).
- Strong understanding of security, authentication (SSO, SAML), and governance in Tableau environments.
- Experience using Tableau REST APIs,, or scripting (Python, Shell) for automation is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have- Tableau certifications (Server, Cloud, or Data Analyst).
- Prior experience in large-scale enterprise BI migrations.
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
