About The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Tableau Administrator with strong skills in
Tableau Server/Cloud administration,
Tableau development, and additional working knowledge of
Power BI. The ideal candidate will manage BI platforms, support data governance, optimize performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable analytics solutions. Experience with
SQL,
data modeling, and
migration from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Tableau Platform Administration
- Administer Tableau Server & Tableau Cloud, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patches, and performance monitoring.
- Manage user and group permissions, license allocation, and security policies.
- Handle data source connections, extracts, refresh schedules, subscriptions, and automation tasks.
- Support server-to-cloud migration efforts, including content movement, validation, and environment readiness.
BI Development & Optimization
- Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards, reports, and data models with strong understanding of best practices.
- Implement governance standards: naming conventions, folder structures, metadata management, and access control.
- Optimize Tableau workbooks for performance (calculations, extracts, data blending, filters, design).
- Work with Power BI for basic dashboard development and report enhancements.
Data Engineering & Integration Support
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate Tableau with SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS, and other enterprise data sources.
- Ensure high data quality, reliable pipelines, and structured data models.
- Participate in BI solution architecture discussions and provide technical guidance.
Operations & Documentation
- Conduct regular system maintenance, capacity planning, and server health monitoring.
- Provide support, troubleshooting, and timely issue resolution.
- Deliver user training, documentation, and best practice guidelines to business users.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 35 years of hands-on experience in Tableau Administration.
- Strong knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Cloud.
- Proficiency in SQL with solid understanding of data modeling concepts.
- Experience with user/group permissions, extracts, refresh automation, and content governance.
- Good understanding of Tableau development and dashboard performance tuning.
- Exposure to Power BI development (basic to intermediate hands-on).
- Knowledge of data security, access control, governance principles, and compliance best practices.
- Experience with Tableau Server Tableau Cloud migration is a strong advantage.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or AWS Redshift.
- Understanding of metadata management and BI governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD for BI deployments.
