About Tata Electronics
Tata Electronics is a prominent global player in the electronics manufacturing industry, with fast-emerging capabilities in Electronics Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services. Established in 2020 as a greenfield venture of the Tata Group, the company aims to serve global customers through integrated offerings across a trusted electronics and semiconductor value chain.
Job Description
- Responsible for ensuring that electronic products and systems are thoroughly tested and validated to meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Bridge between hardware, firmware, and quality teams, focusing on the integration of hardware and embedded software (firmware) and the end-to-end validation of products during development and NPI phases.
- Develop test plans, execute detailed test cases, and coordinate system-level testing (hardware + firmware) to identify and resolve issues early in the product lifecycle.
- Ensure that any design or integration issues are diagnosed and addressed prior to mass production, thereby safeguarding product reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive system integration test plans and validation strategies for new products.
- Define test scope, test cases, and success criteria for hardware and firmware validation at component, sub-system, and product levels to ensure all requirements are met.
- Conduct and oversee functional, performance, and reliability tests on hardware components and embedded firmware.
- Closely monitor test results to identify failures or anomalies. Perform detailed debugging and root cause analysis for hardware or firmware issues, working with design and development teams to implement corrective actions and verify fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware design, firmware/software engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and quality assurance) to facilitate smooth system integration.
- Assist manufacturing and quality teams in establishing end-of-line testing and troubleshooting processes for new products, supporting a successful transition from development to production (NPI)
- Prepare concise test reports and quality metrics.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement in testing, as needed for better efficiency and accuracy.
Technical Skills
- Strong background in electronics hardware and embedded firmware systems, with hands-on experience in validating integrated hardware-software products. Familiar with the full product validation cycle (e.g., EVT, DVT, PVT stages) and associated test processes.
- Proficient in functional, integration, and reliability testing of electronic products, including board-level testing (digital/analog circuits) and system-level verification.
- Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware-firmware issues using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Experience with Design for Test (DFT) and failure analysis techniques.
- Solid understanding of industry quality standards and regulatory compliance for electronics (e.g., ISO 9001, IPC-A-610 for PCB assembly, safety and EMI/EMC regulations) to ensure products meet all reliability and safety requirements through proper testing.
Tool Skills
- Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum or logic analyzers, and environmental chambers for hardware/firmware validation.
- Ability to develop or utilize test automation scripts and tools to execute test cases and streamline data collection.
- Proficiency in using test management software and defect tracking tools to document test plans, test results, and track bugs through resolution.
- Comfortable with data analysis tools for analyzing test data, calculating statistics (Cp/Cpk, yield), and generating reports on quality metrics
- with basic PCB design and debugging tools (schematic viewers, logic analysers) to interpret and debug hardware issues.
Special Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading projects in a global, cross-cultural environment; ability to coordinate with international teams and customers.
- Willingness to travel (estimated 15% 20%) for on-site supplier visits, customer meetings, and program reviews as necessary.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities to drive cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving aptitude and decisiveness to address technical and logistical challenges promptly
- Customer focus with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships. High adaptability, a proactive approach, and the capacity to work under tight deadlines
