Position: Systems Engineer – Vehicle Features (HV Powertrain & Charging Systems) (SML50ST RM 4295)
Job Description
We seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the development and delivery of high-voltage (HV) powertrain and charging features for electrified vehicles (BEV, PHEV, HEV).
This role focuses on defining requirements, developing system architectures, and ensuring successful integration, validation, and production readiness of HV vehicle functions.
You will act as the technical focal point for HV powertrain and charging features, working cross-functionally with engineering teams, suppliers, and OEM stakeholders to deliver robust, customer-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Define, decompose, and manage HV powertrain and charging requirements, ensuring full traceability across system, software, and hardware levels
Develop feature specifications, functional and system requirements, use cases, and interface definitions
Support system architecture development, trade-off studies, and technical decision-making
Lead or contribute to key feature areas including:
HV Powertrain: propulsion systems, torque delivery, drive modes, regenerative braking, energy optimisation, battery performance and SOC/SOH management
Charging Systems: AC/DC charging, fast charging, smart charging, Plug & Charge (ISO 15118), connected and remote charging features, safety and diagnostics
Define and manage system interfaces across battery, charging, electric drive, thermal, control, and connectivity systems (ICDs)
Support integration, verification, and validation activities, including DVP planning, vehicle integration, and defect resolution
Contribute to acceptance testing, programme gateway reviews, and technical risk management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including battery, power electronics, controls, vehicle integration, cybersecurity, and suppliers
Key Requirements
Degree in Electrical, Systems, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline
5+ years experience in automotive systems engineering
Proven experience delivering electrified vehicle systems (HV battery, BMS, EDU, charging, or energy management)
Strong expertise in requirements engineering, system architecture, integration, and validation
Good understanding of HV vehicle systems, E/E architectures, and networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ISO 15118, and CCS charging
Tools & Knowledge (Desirable)
Experience with tools such as DOORS, Polarion, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, CANoe/CANalyzer, MATLAB/Simulink
Exposure to MBSE, SysML, or Agile methodologies
Knowledge of diagnostics (UDS, DoIP), functional safety, and cyber security
