Job Description

As a Systems Engineer II at Medtronic, you'll be a key contributor to the development of our life-changing medical devices. You'll focus on the entire system lifecycle, from crafting precise requirements and designing robust architectures to rigorously testing product performance and resolving critical issues. Your work will directly ensure that our innovative solutions meet the highest standards of quality, user needs, and regulatory compliance, contributing to Medtronic's mission of championing healthcare access for all.

A Day in the Life

You will drive system excellence and product reliability by:

  • Creating, analyzing, and documenting System Requirements Specifications.
  • Investigating and resolving product/system issues, implementing improvements to address them effectively.
  • Developing product/system testing capabilities to evaluate performance across various use cases and conditions.
  • Supporting system-level leaders to ensure comprehensive test coverage and confirmation that system behavior meets requirements, user needs, and intended uses.
  • Holding accountability for product-related requirements.
  • Championing best practices and advanced testing techniques to achieve full test coverage with efficiency.
  • Reviewing requirements for implantable medical device systems for testability and completeness, ensuring they meet the expectations of customers, regulatory agencies, and standards.
  • Ensuring customer needs, use cases, and user workflows are translated into specific, well-written requirements, design features, and associated integration test cases.
  • Participating in technical architecture activities for system definition, including partitioning, establishing performance measures, and defining interfaces to ensure high-quality systems.
  • Performing/participating in Risk Analysis activities (such as FMEA) and Hazard Analysis activities for systems, features, and implementations to eliminate or mitigate identified risks.
  • Identifying, investigating, and resolving product issues.
  • Reviewing technical literature and manuals.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with 6+ years of technical engineering professional experience, OR a Master's degree in an Engineering discipline with 4+ years of technical engineering professional experience.
  • 2+ years of Systems / Product development experience.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and influence management skills.
  • Ability to accomplish critical project level objectives in a team environment.
  • Knowledge in System Engineering discipline or use of system engineering methodologies.
