System Engineer

Total AI Systems, Inc. is looking for a serious System Administrator/Engineer with strong experience managing LAMP-based production environments. This role requires deep expertise in Linux, MySQL, and web server management, along with the ability to handle real-time production issues, optimize performance, and ensure system stability at scale.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Manage and maintain 50+ Linux production servers
• Configure, manage, and optimize Apache / Nginx, PHP, and MySQL
• Monitor system performance, uptime, and application health using monitoring tools
• Troubleshoot real-time production issues across servers, applications, and databases
• Optimize database performance (queries, indexing, tuning)
• Improve overall application performance and response time
• Implement and maintain Linux security best practices, including server hardening, patching, firewall configuration, and access control
• Handle deployments, upgrades, and server maintenance activities
• Manage backups and ensure reliable recovery processes
• Work closely with engineering teams to resolve environment-related issues
• Configure and troubleshoot network-related issues impacting application performance

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration
• Solid expertise in MySQL (database management, optimization, performance tuning)
• Experience working on LAMP stack applications in production environments
• Hands-on experience with Apache and/or Nginx configuration
• Strong understanding of server performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, etc.)
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals
• Proven ability to manage multiple production servers (50+)
• Strong problem-solving skills with real-time issue handling

Strongly Preferred

• Linux+ certification or equivalent
• Strong command-line and shell scripting (Bash) skills
• Experience with server monitoring and logging tools
• Understanding of DNS, SSL, and network-level debugging
• Experience handling high-availability setups and load balancing
• Basic exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, etc.)—but not primary focus
