Position Overview
Saint-Gobain is seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer to lead the deployment and development of smart factory applications across Saint-Gobain's global operations. The System Engineer will play a key role in scaling these applications across multiple factories, ensuring seamless integration with MES and automation systems.
The ideal candidate will be part of Indec 4.0, the Global Competency Center for Saint-Gobain, serving all Industry 4.0 initiatives for over 1100 factories worldwide. Indec 4.0 is a strong team of 300+ members dedicated to advancing manufacturing processes through cutting-edge technologies. Job Summary
Seeking a System Engineer skilled in Ignition Software, Industrial Automation, SQL, and MQTT to join our global team. You will design, develop, and deploy Smart-Factory applications across Saint-Gobain sites worldwide. Requires expertise in Python, Project Management, Web Application Development & Data Integration with the ability to work across teams, focus on customer needs, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance & maintain Ignition based application to fulfill business needs & improve reliability.
- Translate problem statements into scalable solutions with design thinking.
- Improve application adaptability & user satisfaction with improved UI/UX design & development.
- Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and customers on application setup, configuration, and validation.
- Provide application training to customers, support, and troubleshoot problems that arise during deployment.
- Prepare documentation, SOP to simplify application deployment and update it from time to time.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and provide regular updates and reports to the project team.
Qualifications And Skills
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation and commissioning
- Automation protocols – Modbus RTU & TCP/IP , ProfiNET, Ethernet TCP, OPC DA/UA, S7 communication
- Experience in SQL databases, MQTT, and REST API
- Experience in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript)
- Open to learn new skills (ReactJS & FastAPI etc.) to adapt based on project requirements.
- Experience/knowledge of Agile methodology
- Experience/knowledge of Industry 4.0 methodologies/standards
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, confident, and results-oriented.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong drive for execution.
