Overview
The System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably while supporting business needs. The System Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, troubleshoots complex issues, and drives improvements in system performance and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- 2+ years of experience in System Engineer
- Design, deploy, and maintain servers, networks, storage solutions, and cloud environments.
- Monitor system performance to identify and resolve issues, ensuring high availability and optimal operation.
- Implement security measures, including firewalls, patches, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Automate routine processes using scripts and tools to increase efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
- Collaborate with development, security, and support teams to deliver reliable infrastructure services.
- Manage system upgrades, migrations, and integration projects.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide tier-3 technical support for escalated system issues.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to enhance performance or reduce costs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Bash).
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications (e.g., AWS SysOps, Azure Administrator, RHCE, CompTIA Security+, VMware VCP).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
